Front brake pads and discs need changing

Not sure what BMW make their brakes out of then. I've done over 40k from new in the 5 series and just had to have the rear brake pads done. Pads only - no need to touch the discs. The onboard monitoring presently shows another 48k miles before the rears need touching again, and 120,000 miles (no that's not a typo) before the front brakes need any attention. That's around 160,000 out of the factory fit front brakes?!

My driving is virtually all motorway, which helps of course, but this does seem an amazingly long life.

Similarly my 2008 golf spent most of its life on the motorway, I had the front brakes changed soon after I bought it as they were knackered and they were originals at 85k.
Don't know about the rears, they maybe original but they certainly look fine at the moment.
