I doubt many buyers of E class estates have fuel economy at the top of their priorities list, mine were refinement, solid engineering and space, however with increasing fuel prices it is a consideration.
After reading posts on the forum about decreased fuel mileage in the cold condtions, I wasn't expecting too much from my E220 CDI Estate. The fact that it has the added weight and drag of the taller body, Euro 1V complience and a particulate filter and is an auto with fat tyres didn't bode well.
So I was suprised to see 60mpg this week in the freezing cold! It was not the quickest journey (due to traffic) and I have achieved a smidge over 40 mpg in summer in my wifes C180 auto previously, so I must be doing something wrong!
I'm glad to be sitting comfortably and knowing that I'm not soley responsible for global warming and only have to see a filling station after 700miles!
Does anyone else get these sort of figures?
