Whilst Inchcape go off to check prices for a new fuel line for my 280ge I wonder if there are alternatives to a new MB part.

I have a section of braided fuel line that is weeping badly. I have had one suggestion to cut the section out and pop a new tube over the top but that sounds inelegant to me.

It looks to me as though the part is one piece from the fuel distributor (narrow metal pipe) with permanent join to braided hose down to a jubilee clip where it joins solid fuel line again.

Is it worth popping into Pirtek who seem to have an enormous range of fixings and pipe or do I just get the MB part secure in the knowledge that it will a) fit and b) work. Last thing I want is fuel peeing around the engine bay........

As you say Pirtek or any other hydraulics specialists should be able to spec the correct pipe for you no problem. Saying that, not all MB spares are particularly expensive, have you checked the price yet?

Waiting for a price from Inchcape as I don't know the part number.

I was thinking of a membership to the mercedes-benz club as the freebie access to part diagrams and WIS seems to be worth the membership alone (Am I allowed to say that here...?)
