fuse blowing, boot release light stuck on..

Noticed the red led on my boot release switch on the center console was permanently on. but boot is closed.
Investigated and the boot light was out.
Checked and fuse 5 in the boot fuse box was blown (5 amp)

Replaced it, it blew in a flash.. tried a 10amp- blew again.

Also noticed the rear interior light is not working( presume they are linked) and the indicators do not flash when locking doors.

As an aside, is there a way to set a 'chirp' when remote open/locking the doors?

It sounds like there is definately a problem so take it to the dealer.

To have a chirp is illegal so dealers (rightly) won't set it. it can be done by coding the car to netherlands code, but don't do it chirps are really annoying.

i know they can be annoying but also a great way to confirm you actually locked it. i often have to wander back to the car just to make sure it actually locked !

Because they are really annoying so it was made illegal for new installations to chirp. This was in 2002/03 iirc.
