G Tech

Here's hoping the weather bucks up for this. It's been raining and the sky looks full. If it's too wet we won't get good readings:(

Yup Take it easy Pammy, max power runs and wet roads arent a good combination. Careful about what videos you post-public roads and all that;)

Indeed!! As this is a public road we will only be doing what it within the limits of a public road and if the conditions dictate that we don't then we don't!

But it would be great to try and get a gtg going somewhere we we were totally safe to do this properly.

And it has just started raining :( not looking good for today guys:(

its not raining here and the clouds is blowing your way. so looks like i may be bringing the dry weather.

I am just a ray of sunshine really

am gonna set off in about 20 mins.

ah..i see sun....

Well - we're back

Oh boy - do I love my car:devil:

Weather brightened up and the road was nice and dry - perfect conditions. Mark will post his figures but Edna gave:

0 - 60 in 6.28

60 - 0 in 132 feet

Didn't do the HP one. But when you think the official 0 - 60 is 6.7 - 6.9 6.28 is pretty impressive. Got that reading on two runs with just me in. When Mark was in with me I got 6.5 - 6.7.

I'm really pleased.

We also took some video which Mark will put up at some time.

We didn't do any others because it was a public road etc - but it confirmed that we need to set this up somewhere like Bruntingthorpe and do it right!;)

Thanks Greg for the stuff - will post it on tomorrow all being well.

Well done Pammy! Did Scumbag do his car? Do you want to hold onto it a day or two longer to get a 1/4 mile figure?

Yes - Scumbag did do the Chariot and he'll post his figures when he gets home;)

I'll try and do 1/4 mile run then - but if I can't over the next couple of days then I'll just post it on.

I was really pleased with Edna. Mark had a ocuple of traction issues:o but he can tell you more.

But a massive thanks Greg - it was terrific fun;) :D

Don't rush on my behalf Pammy - I'm going to be struggling for any spare time during the first half of the week - sooooooo annoying when work interferes with playtime :(

Thats fine Pammy. I'm really pleased you enjoyed it. It actually gets a bit addictive trying to improve your readings doesn't it! See if you can get a 1/4 mile time and terminal velocity- basically set it in accelaration mode and when you get to 60 dont stop and it will flash at the quarter mile then give you the result when you get below 30mph.

Andy, is there anyone near you who you can do some runs with at the same time as your car?

Pammy Upsolute can key in an extra 20bhp which might get you down to 6 seconds;)

Right, the best i got was 4.82 and 2 other runs sub 5 seconds.

the fastest run was set in C mode! it was 4.91 in S. but for some reasons on the road we used i had traction issues on change up to second.

I tried again without Pammy in to see what the difference was and i got 5.7 and 6.12. so i had better traction with pammy in.

judging by the time Pammy set without me and the time with me in I can estimate I could have got down to 4.5 or so.

At a speedo indicate 70mph it braked to a standstill in 116feet.

We registered 273hp but i think we must have got something wrong with the settings for that. with a 22% transmission loss it should have been showing around 311 or so. even with the normal 360bhp of the standard car it should have 280+. we had a lot of wheelslip when trying the 2 runs for this. plus some cyclists and the fact we started to get to speeds we didnt want to on that road. I think the road surface on my tyres didnt match. If it doesn't get sold in the morning, it may get to DMS for a go on their rolling road, so we will see how that compares to the figure we got.

at bruntingthorpe the car had no traction problems off the line at all.

will post a few pics when i get time.

Its a clever peice of kit so thanks for sending up, and thanks for the coffee Pammy. better than sitting in watching the rain which is here now.

You notice the acceleration more when you are sat in the passenger seat. and under braking, i was pushing against the seat belt in Edna. strange how your brain compensates when you have full control.

Indeed you do;)

Well done Scumbag! 273bhp at the wheels =350bhp Crank (350-22%=273bhp)
So in theory you were about 10bhp down but given the conditions that propably explains the shortful. Dont say what you had to do to get 273bhp on the G tech!!

the car should have 399bhp so i would expect to be around 311 by that means. a guess. i could have 24.something or other % loss with the 7g. which would explain it if it was standard.

we put in the weight, pressed the button and followed the instructions. we didnt do anything illegal as i think i got that figure without going beyond 70. we got about 260 in it the first time. and we may have been a bit out on the wieght.

I will have some idea how accurate it was after the rolling road session if it gets one. but we felt we needed private land to get a more accurate figure.

several cyclists and a few white vans made me a bit soft.

tee hee - drive at more than 60 mph around here?????? it is Bexhill you know :)

Seriously, we are kind of off the beaten track here but if there's anyone else in the Hastings/Eastbourne area who wants to play then give me a shout and we'll try and get together.

No I quite understand! In a car as powerful as yours peak power will maybe be at about 140mph!

Pammy is going to do her 1/4 mile time and then send it on to Andyk (can you do it recorded in the hope that the post office might not lose my G tech!).

Anyone near Andy can contact him but who wants it after AndyK. If we get a list going we an keep the G tech circulating quickly and get as many cars done as we can. Please can someone with an unmodified C180 have a go!
