gear recog module needed a class

I have had the codes on my auto a class 1998 diesel read and the p1856 internal fault is appearing -
I understand this is the gear lever assembly. Anybody point me in the direction of a s/h module and how to fit?

I may have one but the scrapper has cut the cables!
