Going crazy with the rear headrest (w124 cabrio)

Indepentent Mercedes garage in Belgium: Garage Maus

... look at yellow pages. He is really good and honest. Have tried a few before him and was very disappointed (occasionally robbed even), he is not cheap, he is reasonable, but very knowledgeable and quality work.

and what do i have to check there?

Check the the switches are in the"function" position and are correctly adjusted. Note the "function" switch position is slightly different on the left and right switches

Would be good to know what problems the shop finds.

If I were to buy a Mercedes Convertible it would have to be either a W124 Cabriolet or a 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet. Both are fantastic cars (I am abit of a practicality person, prefer the extra seats!)

Well Done!

after a reset by MB the roof worked again but the hydraulic piston was broken - he (Mb specialist) asked 250€ for it don't know if it wurth the price?

I finally found a second hand part for only 50€ ! Changed it yesterday and everything is doing well again

starting to feel in love again with the w124 convertible !

thanks for the support !

@grober do you have any diagrams of rollover lever switches
for example how to place them - any electronic diagrams or something?

because when of them were a little rusted and today MB shipped me the new switches

Basic instructions any doubts consult a pro mechanic!
extend the roll bar with the convenience feature.
switch off ignition+disconnect battery
remove the electrical connections to the lever switches and make a careful note of their general orientation with respect to the rear suspension arms and mounting on the subframe.
loosen their retaining bolts and remove the old ones.
raise car level on a ramp such that the rear suspension on both sides hangs down down freely and the suspension is fully extended.
turn the switch on both new units to the "arrietier" position see picture above.

Then mount the switches such that the tip of the sensing arm is just touching the underside of the suspension arm in its "fully extended"position.

reconnect the electrics
test the roll bar still operates
then with suspension in its normal position turn the rollover switches to their "function" position

I've looked underneath the car today and saw that the connector has 2 pins - is it an all-fit-plug or is it something to give some attention to it?

The new units should just plug in to existing wiring- the plugs will probably fit only one way- if not note their orientation and refit the same way. As far as I know they are basically locked on/off depending on position and whether they are triggered or not of course.

Grober, I love you
