Gone And Bought Myself An AMG...

Seems like a fun project car. Did you view this car a while ago? The photo and/or car looks familiar from a thread you posted in before.

What's nice about £800 cars is that all you can loose is £800 and some skin off your knuckles whilst repairing. :)

It was owned by my friend (who's a Mercedes mechanic), with the intention of getting it mint.

Only problem was that he hardly got the time to do any work and what he has managed to do has took him over a year, so in I stepped...

Nice one Lee! :)

Once finished, will it be a keeper?

Cheers Tim. :thumb:

It depends how much it costs to get up to my standards whether it'll be a keeper or not, to be honest.

I think the dogleg gearbox conversion (if I take that route) will determine the cars future with me. In time I wanted to have a stable of AMG's through their history, concentrating on the C-Class, so where better to start than the beginning of the partnership between Mercedes & AMG.

Mate, it was carat who bought mazzas getrag to do a 36 manual so he's the one to talk to for info about the conversion

I take a couple of days away with a virus infected laptop and you buy an AMG in the interim.

Just priced them up at SEL Imperial for £31 each.

For pattern parts I was impressed with ECPs ones, only a tiny tweek was needed. I got mine sprayed for £200

Need a dimming RVM? :)

That'll be nice when it's up to your standards, Lee.

For a moment, I thought I could help..

I bought THIS a while ago. Mechanically it's super, but the tinworm seems to have the measure of a lot of these cars. :(

Good luck. :thumb:
