Good News
Mercedes have agreed to pay for the relacement of my faulty ECU:rock:

My car is 3 years 10 Months old (87K) but as the fault is not mileage related and the car is barely out of warranty I thought I had a good point. Spoke to Milton Keynes and they promised to do something but no guarantees. Got a call from someone called David Pratt who said he is a regional customer services manager from mercedes who said that the best they can offer me is 10%. I said that means you are not offering me anything as that is the standard 3+ discount from my dealer and told him to speak to his superiors again. It went back to MK and came back saying they will be for all bar the initial Diagnosis fee which has suddenly jumped to £45:rolleyes:

Funny thing is, The service manager said that this pratt fellow actually works at MB whitefield and not for Mercedes so I wonder what was going on there:confused::mad:

Bad news

Unfortunately my S Class and I are going to be forced apart, there will be many tears a few hugs and some very fond memories (there is a large back seat in that car;) just kidding I'm married:rolleyes:) apparently is costing mercedes too much:p. It is normally over £200 a day to hire but I'm sure they were not charged that as Enterprise could have put me in a C Class but for a convenience issue (needing to import one from another branch)

I will be getting another hire car though and will insist that it is an automatic Merc. What is Mobilo's policy anyone know? Do Enterprise get a fixed fee or do they have to supply a like for like vehicle?

I'd be interested to know.

On balance that is a good result, well done.

Shame about losing the S-class but at least you've sampled one so have that special memory.

It will be interesting to hear what you think of your own cars perfomance after the S class.

Cheers DM.

Yes I am concerned about getting in to my car after the S Class but I must say after a week the novelty is wearing a little (only a little) thin. The lack of parktronic is especially annoying. It is an amazing car no question but maybe not quite lived up to expectation. Maybe I just had an abused car I don't know but I still don't think the interior build quality is up to scratch. The impression & perception of quality is definitely there, but I am a perfectionist and like a silent rattle and noise free ride and on most occasions there was something annoying me.

I will mis the torque of the 320 CDI engine, a superb diesel engine no doubt but my 180K with and SB will be more than enough for me. I will also not miss the gruffness under full load, the slight hesitation before boost and the whistle of the turbocharger.

All in all a fantastic experience for which I am very grateful, lets hope the replacement is a CLS500:rock:
