You may recall I recently bought a 1993 W124 220CE on a bit of a chance as although the car looked and ran great it had virtually nil history.

After getting the V5 in my name I wrote to the owner before last and went to see him tonight and had a great result.

Picked up all of the original documents in cluding a load of receipts and a service book with 17 service stamps right up to 122k (now 130k and I'll be getting service done soon).

Also had a bottle of Woolies leather dye and the original Blaupunkt New York radio cassette player.

Had to pay £50 for it but as he was forced to sell the car a few months ago when he didn't want to I didn't mind and consider it well worth the outlay.

Great result.

I helped a friend buy a BMW 320d - it had a part history but was obviously well looked after as it came straight from a fleet. Armed with the printout from the leasing company (their plates were on the car) I contacted each of the main dealers that did the services and sent the service book to them in the post, they fully stamped their parts of the book and also sent tax disk holders & keyrings when they returned it.

Nice when things come together like that.

Excellent, well worth £50 as it's put at least 6 times that in value on the car.

Good result. I did this with a 330d. Car was still as cr*p with service history as without, but it made selling without losing money easier.
