Those lovely traffic wardens in the LB of Camden gave me a parking ticket this morning.

But it wasn't for overstaying in the parking box (which i wasn't on this occasion), but more that my front tyre was a few inches over the line slightly touching a single yellow line in front.

At the time when i parked my car, the vehicle behind had overstepped his mark and so, to give him a little space and to spare my rear bumper from being scraped, i kept my car a little forward.

Is there any chance of appeal or do i start my week £50 short in pocket??

Give it a try. But if you haven;t got photographic proof I'm not too hopeful.
Although you should check your wheels are within yellow lines it does seems a bit daft considering that car bodies have different overhangs.
Good luck.

I was thinking on the way home that i should of taken a snap shot with my mobile... bummer!!

I think i will appeal.. can't be any harm in that.. thanks PJH

Go back to the same place, park again but a little behind the line then take the pic. Say traffic warden was over zealous in ticket issuing

Uggghhhh Camden, unfortunatley I have customers there. IMHO, they are the worst LB for parking enforcement. I had a similar situation there earlier this year as they thought I was in a residential zone. 99.9999% of my car was in the paid parking zone and a few mm of my front tire was in the residential zone. I had a photo, sent it along with my appeal, but they rejected it and re-demanded I pay the fine. Good luck.

Camden are notorious, they got me also. They didn't actually leave a ticket on the car though. First thing i heard was a letter in the post threatening to take me to court. I couldn't proove that I had 'paid and displayed' as I had chucked the ticket by the time the letter came through so had to pay the £50 :(

Moral of the story: If you are parking in Camden make sure you keep your tickets INDEFINATELY!

The Wardens in Westminster have there own Digital Camera, so they now can produce there own evidence!!.

Peter.

Should have taken a picture, going back to get a pic taken would be worth a try, but with out a photo you got no chance. I parked in northampton uni for a few hours while the misses checked her course details, came out and i had a ticket. Not impressed, but i found the attendant still in the car park, and asked him what he's doing and he says after a 11 no parking without a ticket. When i asked where it states this, he said at the entrance which was a blatent lie. So i offered to drive him through the entrance and point it out to me, and if he fails to do so, he going to be in quite a bit trouble, to which he seemed to decline, and the misses asked me to leave the poor little man alone.. lol ( he looked like arnie, little? )

Well next morning first thing i did was take picture of all the lack of signs and posted them with a big F U letter, and job done ; ) ... so get some pictures sir!

1. definitely go back and take a picture*
2. send with appeal stating you will not pay as you were parked legally but common sense made you park to allow the vehicle behind to get out later
3. Also get a picture* that shows also what the front end was NOT obstructing ie an entrance etc (if it could be seen as causing an obstruction if it was outside the area then it might be more tricky to get off)
4. Also state that because you are appealing you do not accept the normal period before the fine increases ans INSIST they respond to your appeal within eg 7 days or you will consider the matter closed, state date ans send recorded delivery
5. Be strong and take it as far as you can before incurring costs

If the warden has a camera there is no point!!!

Peter.

Many Attendants now use digital camera. Also, if any part of your vehicle over-hangs onto a restriction a PCN can be issued. Wheels don't have to be just within the legitimate parking area, the whole car has to be.

Worth an appeal though, but bear in mind if it goes to formal Notice to Owner you are required to pay full PCN cost if you go to Adjudication and are found liable to pay.

Ensure when checking on appeal the Attendant made proper notes, and that all lines & signs are correct. If not, you may have a case. Good info can be found on http://www.parkingticket.co.uk/

Good luck

Must watch...

Whistleblower on BBC1 tonight at 9pm. Highlights the whole evil story of greed, corruption & criminal behaviour surrounding parking enforcement.

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/londonnews/articles/19000426?source=Evening Standard

In parts of London wardens now go around in pairs or groups and sometimes with a Police escort if they are ticketing in "sensitive" areas where they have wound many people up with phantom tickets & their general stupidity.

Now in danger of getting a good kicking for just being there, issuing tickets or not.

What an effective use of resources.

This is getting rediculous... I JUST GOT ANOTHER TICKET!

I was parked in a "loading/ unloading spot" outside one of my stores. As uaual, i make deliveries in my E220 Cdi Saloon. I walked out after the last drop and saw the warden there, and told him. I've made my last drop and i'm leaving now. He replied "i'm sorry but that isn't a delivery vehicle I have to issue you a ticket"

I looked at him... a little shocked and said, "are you saying that only vans can make deliveries?" and he said "yes"

With that he slapped the ticket on my windscreen and walked off. Went over to the council straight away.. and up to the department that employs these D******** and told them the story. Told them that i own two stores in the and his logic didn't make sense.. she's promised to get it sorted.

I think i'm going to stay in bed tomorrow.. this week just doesn't seem lucky!

Btw.. this time its Harrow Council!
