HCHDC (hard core hood down club)

HAD THE top off the clk today -3 on the outside temp gauge:crazy: heated seats on and heater on full:D does this count???

Whats so hardcore about roof down in the winter, at least you can wear warm clothes.

You wanna try FRNAC (fixed roof no aircon club) in the summer in an old car with black leather....now thats hardcore!!!!

Ahhh......the summer of 05, never to be repeated

I have no air con but i have heated blac leather so not too bad in the winter

well if any one wants to swap a soft top for a coupe let me know :-)

I remembered last night, that about 12 months ago we had a 997 C4S cab for 24h and it was awfully cold. Of course the roof came down.

Snowed overnight and I cruised back down the M42 to Solihull to drop it off, sans hood - in the snow.

Whilst I was moving I looked ridiculous. Whilst stationary where the M42, M6 and M6 Toll merge I looked like a right ******. :D

I think I have done about 75% of my mileage in the CLK with the roof down. The roof for my Elise is somewhere in the garage and it hardly ever sees the light of day. Mind you, I have been caught out and looked a right *****er at times!! :p The Westie doesnt even have doors or a windscreen... never mind a roof!!

I have posted before about my amazement at folk with convertibles who drive with the roof up when its dry and even reasonably sunny.

I was tempted to put the roof down for the first time in the newly aquired 350.The sun was shining and airscarf is fitted, but with all the dry road salt around I chickened out.Can wait for the next sunny day,may just throw caution to the wind.

On a day like today when I had the 129 it was about the same time of the year as now I drove up the road and it was great, 2 miles later I hit fog and mist, and froze, I could not stop or turn around on this road and car going the other way looked at me as though I was crazy.

In an air temp of 6c it is not funny or brave

Pammy always likes to drive with her top off whenever possible...

:D :D

If its not raining and

over 10 c
or
Sunny at any temp

then the roof is down!

Fair criteria

No word from Pammy yet. Obviously testing the Law :D:devil:

But following demands to comment on this thread - dunno how I missed it other than being otherwise engaged by the law

:p :p :o Had the law testing the car for me yesterday and testing the roof down at 0 degree temps :D :D The law approved   :D

Get the roof down - this weather is just perfect for topless motoring.:D :D

All regulars on here know that if it's sunny the roof is down - end of story then any other time its reasonable it's down - even if it does mean I get caught in a shower or two lol :D

I was once discussing convertibles when in the dealership and the guy was telling me of a customer they have who likes the look of the CLK convertible. She buys a new one every year and the roof is never ever put down - she just likes the look   Now that I just do not get   I've had convertibles for a number of years now and would struggle to go back to a fixed top, it really is a totally different driving experience.

Biggest kick I get is topless driving when the sun goes down:rock:

A summer evening just after dusk  A truly magnificent experience:D

But I am HCHDC, and so long as it's not raining, then the roof is down! aided by the 'on the move' roof up/down box of tricks :bannana: :bannana:

Sunrise is also a good time. Summer night driving is brill.:bannana:

Wouldn't be without the vario module makes a bif difference :bannana:

Just getting into the HCHDC myself, now the winch is fitted in the garage I can go topless whenever I want :)

Looking forward to warm summer evenings, as long as I can afford the fuel !
