HCHDC (hard core hood down club)

Rain heavier. Lots of rain in car.

HAD THE top off the clk today -3 on the outside temp gauge:crazy: heated seats on and heater on full:D

Iwe had a 997 C4S cab for 24h and it was awfully cold. Of course the roof came down

All regulars on here know that if it's sunny the roof is down - end of story then any other time its reasonable it's down - even if it does mean I get caught in a shower or two lol :D

I only have one thing to say to you lot: "care in the community" :D

We were up at Stoneleigh last night and when we left at 9:30 this morning it was still -4. Hard top on so no question of doing the 100 mile run home with the hood down ;) ... REALLY missed having heated seats :(

My view is not
"when does the roof go down?"
but
"Do I need to put it up?"

Fortunately being follicly challenged I'm not too bothered about air (or hair) movement!

Been away for the weekend - 160 miles over the A66/A1. Roof down SWMBO lasted about 30 minuts at 1c before freezing ears overcame the airscarf, heated seats and heater on full. Me being hardcore could probably lasted another 10 mins.... Lovely while it lasted:)

I get a headache if it's too cold with the roof down. I draw the line at an MG owner style bobble hat, I'm afraid :D

just had the roof down today only lasted 10 Min's:mad: it was colder than the other day ,couldn't stand it for to long:o BBBRRRRRRR

Had to use a fortwo cabbie (ac & heated leather!) this weekend, roof open most of the day for a trip to Portland!

BUT you can open & close the roof while driving in a Smart, can't you do that on a Merc??

Kate

only if you have a after market module ..but wouldn't recommend it as this could cause damage to the roof or car :( regards Jon

Certain car shapes allow the roof open in the colder weather,,the CLK is more 129 oriented. the rake on the SL and SLK window is different and it goes much further back, and this does help a lot. making the car much more comfortable.

i have the wind deflector for the clk but i have never used it ,its still in the plastic wrapping:D

That makes a world of a difference,,even in nice weather it extends the usable driving time with the roof down and stops all wind buffeting from the rear that causes fatigue on a long run.

Even in the SL I use it a lot, it adds some privacy

never suffer with fatigue myself thankfully :)

The deflector for the R129 works well but (a) IMO it looks stupid and (b) you can't get at the rear seats when it's fitted. So don't use mine much.

Yep, had my hood down last weekend and teh one before. Still feel cold at times though, the draft at high speed is not pleasant

I've been driving my Smart Roadster more frequently recently and I've lowered the roof several times in the past week - it can be raised and lowered at speeds up to 100mph.

However, have not been brave/dressed up enough to take out the roof bars as well.

Open top motoring is definitely a good thing. I'd like to always keep a convertible of some description in the fleet. :)
