Heads up - fake pad alert

I have seen a case like that 15 years ago.... these raids are carried-out by TSO, but they are usually instigated by the motor companies themselves. The biggest issue is with 'grey' imports - these are parts that are NOT fake but should not have been sold in this country (and are usually imported by resourceful motor-traders from countries where these items are much cheaper - the UK market is well known for it high prices and the manufacturers are trying to protect their profit margins).

Now the motor companies frequently claim that these parts are fake, unsafe, and don't meet safety standards, in order to get the TSO to act, where in fact in many cases this is simply a commercial and not a criminal issue...

Having said that, I know nothing of this particular case in NI, so the parts may have well been fake and dangerous. But I am saying that you should not always believe what you read in the papers...

I'll second that markjay!

i'd like to see the test results which categorically prove that these items were of substandard quality when compared to anything sold legally in Britain.

If in doubt, apply the three 'B's':
Bullsh*t Baffles Brains.

and there I was thinking the thread was about those clever Chinese making fake iPads. :o
