Heated rear window not working

Hi Everyone,

I have just registered having bought a clk500 W209. I love the car but unfortunately the rear window element is not working. The switch illuminates and the wing mirrors get hot I think but the rear screen does not demist. I've checked the fuses but all seems OK, however I can’t seem to locate a relay, is there one? I’ve checked to see if the elements are broken on the screen but all looks ok.

Would this be linked to the tv on the command system not showing a picture when it has worked in the past, as one of the stored stations is tyne tees Where the old owner lived?

You need to check to see if there is a feed to the rear screen connector firstly. If there is one than the screen is the issue. If there is not one then you need to find out where it gets it feed from. Without checking myself it may come from the rear SAM unit.

Is it easy to find the rear screen connector and get to it? I assume it is at the bottom of the screen somewhere?

Is the rear SAM unit in the boot?

I cant believe it would be the screen, would the aerial for the command system television be in the rear screen? as that does not work either?

Hoping to get the rear screen fixed before winter finally hits us!

Olly just on the back of this thread, do the lines of the heater on the window sometimes break, as on my car (I know its not a 209 but the principle is the same) one or two of the heating lines arent working whereas the rest of them are.
