my c180 doesn't seem to heat up or blow hot air at all even when the temp has reached 80 on the instrument cluster indicator, what could be the problem for this?

Not sure the year of your car. Mine is a 2013 model so my reply is based on this.
I guess you have pressed the "auto" setting in the middle of the temperature display button?

low coolant level in the engine?

bust cabin temp sensor? - does it blow cold when asked to? just ambient (ie outside temp) when in 'hot'?

coolant is fine mate. it blows cold when asked to and I would say it blows outside temp when on hot. where is this cabin sensor and how can I check if its busted.

Your question indicates that your system is different to mine. Best of luck, looks like you might need it.

in the 202 its by the interior lights - the 203 i guess might be the same. as it blows cold when asked i would again point to coolant or 'duovalve' which is located in the 202 by the brake master cylinder - it looks like two pepper pots on a 1" rubber pipework.

dunno how to test. sorry
