:mad:morning I am fuming only had car 2 half weeks and ended up with branch line on passenger side.Spent 2 hrs last night with farleca g3 g10 compounds its improved it but I can still see it and it isn't even deep you carnt feel it so went on amazon last night and bought my self a polisher with mop heads see how I get on with that being metallic black makes it worse.Ive rung council and told them if it don't come out expect a claim!!!.im certain once I get compound pad on it at a slow speed it will be fine......anyone know a better cutting compound than farleca?:(

I wouldn't be taking a machine polisher to it if you haven't used one before, plus if you have been going at it with g3/g10 you don't know how much paint is left, id take it to a vehicle detailer and seek there advise, failing that its paint time.

Actually in some ways it might have be better to have the scratch because if I hadn't moved out the way for the mad ****!! coming the other way it would have been wing mirror for sure!!

How is the council to blame for you scratching the car on a hedge?

Have you got a photo of the damage? I used a mixture of 2000grit, T-Cut and polish to get rid of a deep scratch in a black car and it was invisible by the end.

Here in the countryside, the council should have a responsibility to keep the hedges trimmed. In particular I am referring to the narrow lane in which I live and where there is no pavement.

Each morning and evening at this time of the year, children walk along my lane close to the middle so as to keep away from the stinging nettles and brambles etc that grow into the road space. Coupled with this, drivers have to inch their way avoiding children and rogue branches. It is a great traffic calming measure but it only takes one impatient driver to force the others into the hedge to cause paintwork damage.

Think you'll find it's the landowner's responsibility if anyones and your choice to dive into the hedge. Sorry to hear it happened all the same.

Just had another look at car outside in day light it has improved a lot are have another go at weekend then if it needs a final compound i will use g10 to finish then Mercedes sealant coat ....its got to be me because no one else can see it lol

I always use 3M fast cut (black and green bottle) and find it a lot better then the G10 or G3.
Have you tried a little wet and dry to try a flat it out first? If you can't feel it use should be able to do this the compound and polish back up!!.

Just like above post I too use 3M. If you can't feel the scratch with your nails you should be good with using the green top bottle and a single head polishing machine. You may need to finish of with the dark blue topped bottle to remove any potential holograms or swivel marks. If you can feel the scratch with your nails then you should start by using 3M Trizac 3000 until the scratch is smoothed out before doing the polishing. I hope it turns out good.

just a quick update scratch came out no problem phew!!!.And would you believe the council rang me and said if there is any damage they would pay for it!!! shock !!.Funny that hedge has been well trimmed now

Sorry but I'm confused as the story doesn't say what happened:confused:

Lol
