MB CLK 350
Hello everyone, I've just bought a MB CLK 350 Elegance convertible, its in VGC and drove perfectly. Its a 2008 model with 49k on the clock, I paid £11k with 6 months full warranty and road tax.

Its being delivered tomorrow, I'm hoping for no nasty surprises, is there anything I should be aware of or look at ?

Many thanks

Welcome, I own the same with 50K on the clock and am very pleased with mine.
The only real problem with mine when I got it was the sat nav needed fixing and the wheels needed a refurb.
I changed the air filters as I found mine full of muck and leaves, and the pollen filter was also renewed.
The gearbox has stuck in first gear just the once which is a slight worry which can be a problem with the 7 speed transmission, or so I understand, but apart from that all OK.
Great time to get a convertible now as the prices are low until after Xmas.

Thanks Reggie, yes my wheels are a little scuffed so will get them refurbished, otherwise its in beautiful condition. I see your in Northants, the same as me, are there any MB specialists apart from the main dealers about ?

Hi again, I intend to try Autobarn, Kettering Road for my next service Tel:01604 644266 or PW Automotive Tel:07969 565100 at 13 Rothersthorpe Avenue.
One small problem with these cars you need to be aware of, is that on a frosty morning the side windows can stick to the rubber serounds which can strain the mechanisums when you open the doors on a very cold morning, which can lead to the rear side windows not closing completely, as they have been strained many times.
I use Goo Gone on the rubber serounds as I did on my last CLK Coupe, to help reduce iced windows sticking but I am sure you can buy the correct MB product for this.

Thanks Reggie, I spoke with a guy at Chariots Cars, Kettering today as I nearly bought a 200 Kompressor from them (backed off because i thought I would regret the smaller engine) and he said they do MB service and repairs without main dealer prices...............anyway, I'll get some goo gone......

So are our models also known as W209 ? and why do people use these numbers rather than what it is ie CLK 350 ? ............. thanks

That's a brave question. I'm sure one of the inhouse grumpies will provide a link to explain.

I am also a northamptoian but have always used M-B riverside have been thinking of trying autobarn but was concerned they were more BMW did get a service quote from PJ Hodge Mercedes specialist in St James but they are as dear as main dealer. Did read Reggie Rock that you have been to autobarn would you recommend them

Hello Richiebuoy Is your W209 petrol as my w207 isn't stupid numbers I am with you CLK & E Class Coupe

Richiebuoy, the w209 is the body shape and the 350 refers to the engine size ie. 3.5Ltr.
