Ok, story goes like this.

Drive to work this morning, everything ok. Start car tonight to come home - ABS light stays on. Go to drive off, try a few emergency stops etc. light still on. Car is now stuck in 2nd gear and wont go past 45mph.

Any ideas? Fuse, sensor, whole new ABS?

I only go 5 miles to work - is it safe to drive tomorrow until I can get it into a dealer?

Thanks

It is safe to drive you still have brakes but no ABS and the car can move ok in 2nd. Just don't drive it too hard or it may overheat.

The gearbox has gone into limp home and has selected the last selected gear. The ABS issue could be a sensor lead gone.

Thanks Dieselman,

I was suspecting it was a sensor / fuse as everything was all of a sudden bust without any problems / clunks / noises before that.

By the way - drove home tonight with heater on full blast and windows open, great fun in 30C heat as you can imagine!

Yep, took it to Star Motors in Reading - faulty sensor in the diff. Will be fixed Tuesday - great fun driving at 35mph!
