Anyone with boot mounted DVD Navigation Drive (Command) W211 fitted living near York

Help needed to test a boot mounted DVD Navigation module fitted to the new E Class W211.

My DVD Player will not load the DVD programme when seletcting Navi or Map. I am suspicious of the wiring loom or fibre optic cables.

To test my unit with someone else's would take approx 5 mins by simply unplugging the fibre optic and power cables and connecting them to mine.

I would be willing to pay a small fee if necessary to eliminate or confirm my suspicions.

Best regards

Before you decide to play musical chairs with your hardware you first of all need to get a diagnostic report.

This hardware is not Plug and Play - it requires analysis and coding to become active.

Re Help

Hi Miro.

Would I be right in saying that the vehicle would need coding through Star Diagnostic's before the boot mounted DVD would load the navi programme onto the Command.

I was lead to believe through Braybrooks (Command Specialists) that the system would still work but the navi system would not work through the car's instrument cluster.

Could you confirm if this was the case?

Im not sure some people are all that when it comes to Star Diagnose. The first thing to do is put it on a diagnostic and read out what the optical ring is doing. If the Navigation drive is there it will code into the AGW and start working.

As for the cluster that is just more coding. Makes me wonder why they think it wont work.

If it doesnt show up then it is not powered up or the optics are messed up.

Thanks for your reply Miro, still a little confused with what you referred to, regarding the a diagnostic check of the optical ring. i.e Is STAR (Mercedes) diagnostics what you are refering to or is there another system that checks the optical ring?

Just go with the first idea .... there is no need to look for systems which dont exist.
