Help! Detailing a 'new' car?

G techniq once applied is easy to maintain..... G wash and dry

Hi Rob
Just spotted this post.
I did get Ed at Devine to detail my SL55 and I was very impressed by his attitude, courtesy and most of all his standard of work.

I posted a thread here - http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/detailing/166081-my-sl55-detailed-week.html

He put up a YouTube video of my car too -

Although I've since changed the wheels ;)

And you've made a great choice of car by the way, ;)

Tim

Thanks for that :-)

Pretty damn awesome video by the way! Your SL looks better than new! Seriously impressive.

How are the Gtechniq coatings holding up over time?

I've had a very competitive quote from Ed, tailored to my particular requirements.

He seems like a really nice guy, and his work looks second to none!

I first started with a quotation from Gemcleandetailing - "Detailed", but it was 4 figures not 3, which when compared to other quotes, was expensive IMO. Ed was less than half.

Then as you can see from posts 18 & 19, Gemcleandetailing kindly offered me a smart looking carbon fibre rear diffuser, but via PM’s won't give me a straight answer to "How much?”

He wants to bolt it to my car first to check it fits properly. Then I presume we stand beside it and discuss the price ;-)

With the pricey detailing quote I've been 'spooked' and fear the diffuser will be the same. So I don't think that is going to happen either, which is a shame really :(

Anyway, thanks for recommending Ed

Cheers,
Robert

Hi there, I do apologies that I didn't give you a price on the CF diffuser. All we need is what it now owes us. Which is £800.00. As for fitment, there was a very good reason for this as explained. This was bought back by a client as he said he fitted itself and I wouldn't fit. No questions asked as the client is always right and we supplied abrand new one which he fitted perfectly and was very happy. So the reason why we want to fit it for you free of charge is so we know for ourselves that it does indeed for perfectly. As I don't want to give you it charge for it and then it doesn't fit. So I thought you were going to pop in after you collected your car to give an exact price for all the detailing and the diffuser. Which leads onto my price regarding the detailing of your vehicle. Without seeing your vehicle I can never give an exact quote. My quote was for my signature paint correction detail. I never quoted to you a single stage as you asked for in this topic. Which is for a very good reason. Vag lacquer such as Mercedes, BMW and Audi have one of the hardest composites in the world. So if you see light swirling a single stage mop will not fix this problem. So unlike Ferrari lacquer you have to compound and refine to eve one remove light swirling. So until I saw your vehicle I was giving you the worse case scenario.

Also my price was for my signature correction & advanced Gtechniq TSP package which includes the following:

-full correction detail.
-engine bay deep clean.
-Wheel removal deep clean.
-complete interior detail.
-complete Gtechniq advanced CS TSP package including:

Crystal Serum
EXOv2
C0 Aero Coating
G1
C5
L1
I1

But yes I appriciate that you were not looking for such a serious detail, but I explained that if the car needed full correction this detail above would effectively cost a couple hundred more but would save you a lot of money if all done in one detail. As one thing I'm learned in the last ten years is clients have one thing done and then go, 'ah I wish I had the wheels deep cleaned & composite ceramic coated or For an extra £50.00 I should of had the interior deep clean'
So this package was design to take all the elements, put it together and make a car look perfect throughout. When it comes to this job it's 5 days of labour, in a very well set up and heavily insured unit using the best of the best. My price reflects my level of skills, the equipment I have, the unit I have and the insurence I have. In a nutshell my work and client contact is second to none. I offer a service that is second to none to which I'm sure all my mbclub clients will agree. As they say, the work speaks for itself.

But if I could of seen the car, it might of been in excellent condition, for which I would of told you it would been dramatically cheaper. But in my years of experience I've had one mb come to me that was brilliant. After all that is my job, to take a car and make it 100% better then when it arrived.

Kind Regards
Michael

In Fact a perfect example of this, can be found on the Porsche 997 GTS im working on at the moment.

Take a look at the last 4 days of posts that have been made to regards to th work carried out on the vehicle:

https://www.facebook.com/gemclean.detailing

including the work in progress photo album:

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.568437626618033.1073741957.235646543230478&type=1

This will show you how far I will go to putting a vehicle right. from painting half the car better then porsche ever could, to even having the equipment to remove centre lock nuts. The roof was even removed just to hoover the compartment out where the hood sits when down and the rear lenses removed to just make sure the very corners of the clusters did not have a swirl mark in sight. Its just the little things to make the car that little bit more special.

Kind Regards
Michael

Thanks Michael for explaining things :-)

MB Basingstoke have not released my car yet. I have had to cancel a bunch of appointments I had for the car, because I don't have it!

I was promised the car this last week, and now I am being told "probably" for this coming week!

Something to do with the refurbishment of the diamond cut wheels going wrong....

Anyway, I don't doubt from what you have said, and the photos, that your work is second to none :-)

But first I need a car........:wallbash:

Cheers,
Robert
PS. Thanks, but I'll pass on the diffuser.

Hi, no problem whatsoever but my price can not be reflected against standard detailers. I have a huge reputation that I must keep, but completely understand you must go for a choice that works for you. If I can help, I will and you will get what you pay for no problem. Either way pop down to my Cars & Coffee meet on Saturday 22nd November. It's going to be an absolute cracker :)

Kind Regards
Michael
