Hi guys.

im keen on acquring one of the the very early w140 600 sel models

must be clean, dont mind high mileage, but i do prefer low owners and in total original condition...

any knowledge of any for sale in your local areas/neighbours/friends of friends.

Any assistance appreciated.

I want the pre facelift 1991-1993 model before they softened the rear tail - ie with the pop up rear corner markers

example of the one i am looking for:

thanks, seen these ones already..

anything obvious i think i have done..

the low mileage one is not that nice a colour combo, and the silver one has mis painted wings, and a crummy exhaust, but is the nicer one.

im liking something that stands out a little, ie.. not black, but some pretty 2 tone scheme, which has original paint work, even if not perfect..

Seen a decent 300se, but im dead keen on v12, or possibly a v8 if possible..

thanks though chaps

Wings can be repainted and exhaust backboxes are practically consumables! Wouldn't take an enormous amount of work to make it visually perfect I'm sure.

Did you ever consider that buyers of S600 models weren't that keen on brash colour schemes? It is entirely possible that the used car you are looking for doesn't exist!

whats the realistic MPG you get out of one of these beasts?

is LPG an option?

looks like it would be fantastic and if buying at the cheaper end of the market, a lot of car for the money.

serious value for money.. sure it uses more fuel, but the feel good factor would be amazing and the cost savings on the car incl future maintainence would justfy zero depreciation - almost!

Boss,

If you'd be willing to consider a 1994 W140 600SEL, then you might want to look at this one. It's described as a one owner vehicle, has covered just over 29k & is black on black. Asking price is 12495.

Cheers MPG.

Have looked at this car, its not right in terms of colour combo.

im looking for something light or brighter.. not black for sure lol..

i dont mind high mileage on this car at all.

seen a beryl green style cars for sale some months ago.. was gorgeous...

might have to give in to a 500se or 500 sel if nothing shows up.

Like NAVs s600 that was stolen recovered, i love the style, but am not a fan of the facelift variant..

but if any one knows of a decent w140 in smoke silver, then id be very interested, as this was my favorite colour back in the days :)

Realistic MPG is 14-15 urban and 22 on a run depending how heavy your right foot is. I have cruised along in my SL @ 80mph and averaged 25. Lets face it, you don't buy a 6ltr V12 if your worried about mpg! ;)

Why do you want a 600? Power is not much different to a 500 but the repair costs are over double in most cases.

honestly, 600 only sprang to mind when hearing of NAVs theft, and that the 600 is the creme de la creme, but i would happily look at 500s.. there are a few floating about..

im just very fond of the original boot lid and lines, than the facelift, i never liked the curved edges, whilst the pre facilift was very simple, clean, and the car was bulky but after the facelift, the bumpers became even bulkier.. hence it never looked right with out AMG wheels in my opinion..

yep the early ones did have awesome presence..

trust me.. go for the 500!
