This really is a shot in the dark!! Can anyone help me trace these...

There was an ebay seller advertising new 6-spoke ML500 alloys over the summer, complete with new (Dunlop?) tyres for £600 Buy-It-Now. Advertised several times. Think he was in the trade as he could get hold of more sets at the time - think he sold some motorbike stuff aswell?

Thought I'd kept his details but I haven't - I could do with two sets now. If I recall correctly, he was on the South coast, possibly Hastings. The photos were taken against a wall - definitely two-tone, blue and red.

Any help or tip offs much appreciated!!

Are you sure they are the right ones for an ML500? As far as I'm aware the ML500 had split rims with fancy bolts in them.

Those ebay ones look right, there's some MLs round our way that have them.

These were one choice of ML500 wheels..... (maybe they're the 430 ones?) they've got lumps on the rim rather than bolts.

It's very difficult to determine which wheels would have been on a certain car from the factory.
The wheels in the image above are called Menkalina, and are a cert reasonable £760 from an MB dealer.
If you don't like that price and are willing to wait a couple of weeks, make me an offer and I will source you some (also new).

Thanks for the replies!!

It was the Menkalinas I was referring to, and are exactly as shown in Richard W's post. As he says the 17" Menkalinas have bumps around the circumference, whereas the 18" Nibals have bolts (split rim style). I believe these were standard fitment on the ML500, whereas the Nibals were upgrade only on all models.

Shortly after I posted this thread, some came up on ebay that have the same photo but aren't the same seller!! The two were advertising simultaneously in the summer. I think the guy advertising at the moment poached the photos off the advert I referred to in my first post, as the photo shows the Dunlops the first seller used. EDIT: Here's the recent ad: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8014562938&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

Murray-Systems: The ebay seller I'm trying to track down could do four brand new Menkalina with brand new 275/55 R17 Dunlop SP5000s - can you beat this?

What price am I trying to beat for the Menkalina?
This guy is trying to sell at more than the dealer price @£960:

This was the ad you were trying to find: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8014562938

Anyway, enough searching eBay for you...
Nibals are £518 each from an MB dealer £2072/set. Even at 20% off, they would be over £1600 without tyres.

275/55R17 choices:
275/55R17 CONTI 4X4 [1] 109V £618
275/55R17 DLP SP5000 [1] 109V £429
275/55R17 GDYR WRNG F1 109V £704
275/55R17 GEN GRB TR [4] 109H £434
275/55R17 GEN GRB UHP [1] 109V £339
275/55R17 GEN ST [2] 109H BSW £440
275/55R17 KUMHO KL12 [1] 109V £348
275/55R17 MICH DIAM [1] 109V £748
275/55R17 PIR SC ZERO 109V [1] £553
275/55R17 PIR SCZEROA 109V [1] £578

The seller I'm trying to find was advertising new Menkalinas with new Dunlop SP5000 for £600.

Same photo, similar area, but different seller I think. Sairwalker advertised at the same time as the seller I'm thinking about during the summer - that's why I think they're two different sellers.

Many thanks

Well, Dunlops are £429 fitted, and I could do the rims for £500, all new inc VAT.
If other members would also like Menkalina wheels, the price would reduce:
2 sets £475/set
3 sets £450/set
4 sets £425/set
5 sets £400/set
down to minimum £300/set, maximum quantity 200 sets ;)

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. Total £929 then.

I think the ones I saw on ebay at £600 for wheels and tyres was a bit of a bargain!! I knew I should have leapt at the chance. Live and learn though.

Bought some brand new Menkalinas (in boxes) for £165 today. Just got to get the tyres now. Cheapest I've found were below £400 for for four Dunlops fitted, so it looks like I've ended up paying less that the £600 bargain I started this thread with!!

Result!! :bannana:

They look like this:

A company I assume, as he's doing tyres, etc.

I had the same thought as you though, so decided to go for it. Will let you know if all ends well.

Which company? Do you have a link or a phone number?
