Yep, agreed.

They can do this today, so I'm going to bite the bullet and have it done.

Got them to provide a quote on the discs and pads - £976! I told them that I could get it done at an Indie for under £700 and they said that the parts were different. I said that they were MB OEM parts, and he said that they were more then likely from Sweden or Denmark and aren't the same!!! WTF!

If they were from Sweden they would be very good parts,

shame they did not mention Tim-Buck-too

I would have, but for timing sake and the fact that it's now stuck in second gear, taking it to an indie would be time consuming and a pain in the A***.

What is it they say, only 3 things are certain in life? Paying Taxes, dying and being ripped off by Mercedes Main Dealers :-)

The cars now done 42K miles, had all of its servicing done my MB and is just over 3 years old.

I think you need to push MB harder given the age and mileage of your car. It's unusual for them to come back without any contribution.

I think you would be best to call Customer Services directly - and do it ASAP before the dealer invoices for the work.

Make it clear that you need to get the issue resolved ASAP as the car is in the workshop. I don't have the phone number handy but someone is sure to have.

Good luck.

So, many thanks prompting me on this! The saga continues.

I called MB Customer Services and explained the situation and asked why they were not prepared to make a contribution. From the roundabout way that they responded, I do not believe that MB Tonbridge even called them and requested anything! They're calling Tonbridge now and will call me back with an update. Maybe something good might come of it!

I suspected that may be the case.

If you pay they charge you the going rate. If MBUK/DCUK pay then they can only charge the agreed rate - if memory serves this is about 2/3 of what you pay.

When DCUK get involved a whole heap of measures and targets are introduced, and so things tend to get resolved quickly. I believe there are also clawbacks/penalties if things aren't resolved.

You may find a more a more responsive dealer will emerge as a result.

The service that the local dealer gives is pretty shocking. Just spoken to their service guy and challenged him on the contribution enquiry. He basically admitted that he hadn't applied because they've introduced a new system which is difficult to work through!!! Can you believe that!!!

Anyway, we'll know more tomorrow.

OK, so fed up with waiting for MB Tonbridge and MB Customer Service to get their act together, I went down and picked up the ML this afternoon paying the non-discounted rate of £835 to take it away.

Mercedes said that they would credit back the difference to my card depending on what MB Customer Service came up with and if that was not as good as their local discount, they would apply that instead. Fair enough.

Anyway, got home and MB Customer Service had left a message on my answering machine, so I called them and it appears that they're prepared to pay for 69% of the Bill and my contribution will be 31%, so by my calculations, I'll end up paying just under £286!!! Woohoo! :bannana:

Before celebrating too early, I'm waiting for confirmation from Tonbridge that they've applied the credit to my card.

I had another little touch at the garage, which I'm not going to detail on the forum, that I'm sure that they'll catch up with me on very soon, but I'm not going to tell them their mistake, they'll have to work it out for themselves. :D
