Hello all,

I have just purchased a 2003 E270 CDI and am well pleased - First thing I have done is join the club! So I am very new to owning an MB, so please bear with me!

My E270 has a CD changer in dash but does not have navigation, so I am in the process of buying a unit for a retrofit. Am I correct that I should be able to retro fit a COMMAND-APS system, even though I have a CD changer in the dash?

Also, I believe that I need a W211 headunit, but how do I find out which navigation module is compatible with which headunit? I have had a read through http://www.mercupgrades.com/ which is excellent (thanks!), but I cannot find any information on the navigation modules.

Finally, am I correct that in addition to the W211 headunit, the navigation module, GPS antenna and the DVD, I also need a separate Audio Gateway unit - are there different versions of these, and if so, how do I find out which is compatible with my headunit.

Many thanks for your help,

Kourosh

I've no idea .... it's all a little bit new for my era of car ...

But let me be the first to welcome you on board .... :bannana:

I was in the same situation a few months back.
Fitting Comand requires a fair bit of especially if your car is not already fitted with an audio gateway.
You would need to run wiring form the unit to the boot too.
Im in end I decided against it and went for a aps50, which is a all in one nav unit, click the link below for more details

It may be worthwhile you having a conversation with Alfie first. Could well be that having him do it with his knowledge, expertise and purchasing power could work out as less expensive than doing it yourself?

A number of members have used his services and would vouch (or not!) for him.

Welcome to the board - a friendly and helpful bunch here!

It can be done , if you PM me your'e vin number i can give you some additional info with spare part numbers and installation tips.

Thank you guys very much for your advice, and for welcoming me to the club :-) All help asnd suggestions are much appreciated!

Retrofitting COMAND to a w211 is not as easy as other vehilces. In fact it involves so much wiring that we (www.comand.co.uk) dont offer it as it tends to be cost prohibitive for most customers.

That said, if you are determined, I am happy to help you source the parts yourself.

Hello, Carlo.

Would you be able to run a North American VIN and tell me what parts are required? Would be super if you can!
