I have had a star diagnostics machine for awhile and i decided to try and make it work, but every time i try to communicate with the car i get a message saying :

Fault (1.1)-1.501.9504
Initialization of diagnosos multiplexer failed. Possible causes: The link between the diagnosis multiplexer and the diagnostic socket is interrupted. The link between the diagnosis multiplexer and the diagnostic unit is interrupted. The voltage supply at the diagnostic socket (circuit 30 and (or) circuit 31) is faulty.

I am using IBM 600e with win xp and a docking station.

I have been told that i need drivers for the docking station.

Can any one confirm?

Thanks

Isn't there a serial port at the laptop itself? Why are you using a docking station?

You might want to "consult" this expert:

Thanks for the fast reply!

I am using a docking station because i rather figure out a way to use the equipment i have rather spending another 300$ getting a serial lead from the serial port on the laptop to the multiplexer.

It is your choice, I assume you are aware of the DAS sensitivity to the actual serial port circuitry.

I'm still confused about the T600E, getting a serial lead from the docking station should not be much different from getting a serial lead from the laptop serial port, if it has one. You did not state it does not, if it does not, I'd suggest using another computer to figure out a way to use the equipment instead of spending time and money with the current setup. But it is your time and money too, feel free to do what you like with both.

sounds like he is using the original MB docking station which has the round multiplexor connection on it.

In that case my complaint about the PC HW was not justified.

Also What do you mean by ?

Is there some configuration i need to deal with? i only have a printer port and a com 1 in the device manager.

No, no, that comment was just supposed to mean that I questioned your hardware configuration while it actually appeared to be just OK. Sorry about that. I thought you were using a standard/commercial IBM docking station.

Are you sure our multiplexer is not blacklisted?

To tell you the truth im not sure, is there any way to test?

error code 95xx: C3 mux settings is committed*
error code 9551: means no C3 mux is connected
error code 9504: means Star C3 is connected and error in mux*
error code 9500: means C3 is connected but error in COM settings to COM2
error code 99xx: means C4 mux settings is committed*

So the error is 9504 means mux is read by software and mux is burned

Almost 8 years too late with the reply? The OP was 2008 :)
