Help with tyre choice.

Mileage

Continentals Contact 2 with their asymmetrical tread pattern will give you the mileage.. £135 approx

Just changed the rear 245x40x17 after 24,000 miles from new. The fronts 225x45x17 are half worn so should do 35,000 miles plus...

And because they are asymmetrical you can swap them over from side to side. Because the tread patterns geometry is across two tyres and not directional across one tyre..

By the way, I dont work for or sell Continentals.. just trying to help out here

Here is the technical data sheet http://www.conti-online.com/generat...ce/conti_sport_contact_2/tech_details_en.html

Merc use several vendors according to the deal they can get, availability etc.
9/10 it's our old favourite "fleet choice" the Pirelli P6000 ;)

Thanks for all the help with the tyres, I just scraped through the MOT but will need to get 3 new ones (which will in fact be a set of 4) next month and will probably go for either Continentals or Goodyear.
Anyone got any thoughts on my earlier question in this thread about painting the face of the wheel the body colour with the rim polished? Any pics of this being done other than in black would be nice.
Cheers

My wife runs F1s, I run Conti SportCon 2s, and the rim protector is more pronounced as a ridge on the F1s but the Contis profile design gives more of a "bulge" over the whole sidewall. Life seems about the same.
Howard may be able to help on the wheel painting issue...

I have been running Continentals for about 5 months now on my W202 sport estate and I have to say that it's more sure footed than when I had Michelins on it.

Here is my age old piccy of my wheel that i painted in Gunmetal Grey ( actually i did all four, doing just one would have looked funny ;) ) i decided on grey as i think white would have been a little OTT....

Let me know if i can help any more ...... (I should do a HOWTO, but i haven't got any progress photos :( )

They do look nice, probably more so because your car is white. I've attached a photo of my car in the hope that someone can edit it to show the face of my wheels with body colour. I'm struggling to decide if they would look good or not with the rim polished and the face painted as the body. (Violane Metallic) any help would be appreciated.

Not a very good picture. If someone can let me know how to save the picture in a size that is uploadable, I'll try again.
