hey guys (new member looking for help)

thanks again for that info grober :)

for anyone interested, i also have a custom grille on my car thats i havnt seen done before

avantagarde Grille inserts with the chrome dividers and grille surround colour coded with the car (i dont like chrome :P)
also sprayed teh inside of the headlights black, the faded grey plastic made it look a little dated, think it freshens it up nicely

Here's one .... avantgarde grille on a pre-facelift w124 ... see my siggy ....

Also Chris, lose the orange bulbs in the indicators ... go for the chrome ones , they are pennies from Hellfrauds , you'll be amazed at how much better the car will look just with that little mod ...

It gets rid of the 'fried egg' look !!

haha yea i know what you mean but i HATE white indicaters (or are these just a coating and still show orange?), cant see ppl indicating at night, personally i think white indicators and the new HID lights should be banned, always blind me :(

will look into them if they still show orange ^^

regarding the grille i was talking more about ppl colour coding it ^^, seen lots of cars with the inserts, not so much colour coded

no they still blink orange, in fact mine blink more orange than the old orange ones..

Heres what you realy need to get rid of the fried egg look, im shure KillerHertz wont mind me using his pictures as an example:

There the ones to go for - Philips SilverVision

does look alot cleaner .. will mean my car will be completely greyscale haha (minus the plates :P)

thanks guys ^^ will pop down after work today :D

Its deffinatly a good buy and im shure you wont regret it, dont forget to take a before and after pic like KillerHertz did :D

Indicator lamps (bulbs) are cheaper from your dealer than from Halfrauds and they're more silvery.

B66800040 is the code to order, come as a pair in a nice mercedes box for about 11 quid. My photos are with the old lamps - will get some with the new ones next time I give the car a good clean (will be a couple of weeks as am on building sites next week!)

Would a 190E 2.6 engine and gearbox transplant easily?

I ask because, before I bought my E300 Diesel, I test drove a 190E 2.6 and it was a fine car, with excellent torque giving strong acceleration and very relaxed cruising ability.

It would probably use a lot less fuel than a turbo'd 230 with comparable performance and no turbo lag.

should fit ok , but seein as i already got the turbo, i want to fit that ^^ , + i want the car to be something different , and theres not too many turboed 190es in the UK , let alone turboed 8valves, will be nice to pull alongside a cossy 190e at the pod and see it have a run for its money against a smaller engine ^^

im not after speed, i just want something no-one else has on the road :)

oh and the turbo was specificly made for the 190e 8v , no damage to the engine, and very small lagg , kicks in at 3000 rpm
