Hi all,

I have just picked myself up a 1992 300ce, and I love it. My first merc, I got rid of my horrible Clio 172 and got the merc as a proper everyday run around.
Have got to give it a service, but its been FMBSH upto 150k and its on 161k now, and got to decide if I'm going to keep up the history or just do things myself??

Have put a pic below, more are on piston heads link below too.

I have just won myself some AMG 17'' alloys on ebay too, so need to get them on when I can afford some tires for them. Not sure which ones they are, but they are the flat block spoke design.

Welcome to the forum Tuscan and a very nice car you have too. Wish you many happy motoring miles. I know it might be a bit early in the day for mods but have you considered an avantgarde grill insert, theres a member selling one here too:

Welcome to the forum, number plate doesn't look legal though:D :D

Hi...........
I also went from a Clio to my first Mercedes about 18 months ago.
You will notice a subtantial increase in quality in every aspect.
BTW, do you come from the USA?
Its just the way you spell tyres (tires).

Thanks for the jokes about the number plate, I was waiting until I saw a blue 300ce on here then I can decide what plate I want :D ;)

Tyres Tires, all a PITA, just got some "tyres" fitted to my amg rims and fitted them, pics in the wheel section. I love the look, but now it looks too high!

Welcome.

Out of interest what was wrong with the Clio 172? I'm sure build quality was poor, but was the handling as good as the reviews suggested?

I doubt it's worth keeping up the MB service, but a local independent specialist would save you lots. Or if you do the work yourself keep all the receipts.

The clio just felt fragile, and the handling at speed was very suspect, it may well have just been my one. I have a mate with 172 cup and he loves it. I dont much like FWD either, and my other car is a TVR Tuscan for the fun fast car, so the clio was trying too hard at something else I already have. So the merc is the other end of the scale and a great mix of cars I think now.

Will check out the indies, prob PCS at waterlooville, but might just do the service myself as i spent too much on those amg wheels!!

lovely looking car mate.well done and welcome

Just stumbled across this one (a bit late).

Nice motor Al
