Hi have just phoned Whiefield Mercedes Benz for a B Service , and im having a stiff Whisky now quoted me ,,sit down,are you Ready
B Service £325.00 , then £280 for Spark Plugs and £170 for 3 filters thats £775.00 +vat.........

i can buy top of the Range NGK Iridum park plugs x 4 for £60.00 , so im affraid my mercedes if not have mercedes benz stamp it will be having a stamp off my mechanic who as been going for 40yrs and in is passed work for Bmw for 10yrs in service and left to start is own bussiness.

£280 for 4 plugs is this for Real are they gold plated...........

I had a Similar quote when my wifes A210 Amg needed the first service.

What got me was the service was something like £450 then


Brake fluid £90

Spark plugs £120

Oil / air filter £60


etc etc etc


I did ask then what is the £450 for if everything else is extra??


For the first service and to extend the warranty it would have been nearly £2000.


I've now found a great indy that does it much cheaper and I belive actualy like working on the cars

I suggest that you either have the B Service done at MB and the extras at a reputable Indie else have it all done at a reputable Indie (that's my choice!).

Failing that, learn to change plugs/filters yourself!

Just get the basic done to get the stamp in the book and get the rest done by an indy

i ask him why so dear for spark plugs and he said thats the norm, i cant beleive that . he said it was for 4 plugs, i just got a quote for filters and been told about £35.00 wheres the £170 they told me

so what do you get for £325 a stamp and a thankyou , and we have just ripped you off, call again next time and you can have a cup of tea for £50.00 sugar is extra £5 per spoon

Well, B Service is normally 2 hours @ £100-130 per hour + VAT?? That's anywhere between £230 and £299 for labour alone.....

That pricing is just stupid. What are the 3 filters? Oil and pollen should be in the B sevice anyway so there's only fuel and air which are additional.

I've skipped dealers even on in warranty cars, the amount you save can pay for solicitors fees if they fail to honour warranty, which they seem to be much happier about these days.

Dealer stamp is only worth it if you keep your car short time or low milage, I'll run 150-250k miles on cars and whether the stamps say "MB Hull" or "Steve Barraclough Motor Engineer" isn't gonna make much difference!

Dealers will often price match. I've just got a service down from £280 to £200 for my car by bargaining.

I don't know of anyone Wrexham way (maybe there is someone but they keep a low profile!).

There's one beyond Denbigh that another forum member speaks well of: http://www.trefnantgarage.com . I suppose MB Motors at Queensferry would the obvious choice location wise but comments about them vary.

Bit of a trek, but I know another forum member from Chester speaks well of MB Tech in Warrington.
