High fuel consumption w212 e350 cdi estate

I’ve not had the dpf removed or gutted, had the car 3.5yrs now.

I’m not convinced by the mileage of last regen, current mileage is around 167,000 miles. Wondering if it’s the diag tool as not showing odometer reading

Have you measured it with a brim to brim tank calculation?

You say "mixed driving"

Diesels are not good in slow or city driving so this can impact on overall economy, also the cooler temperatures we are experiencing will mean the engine takes longer to reach full operating temperature. It can also affect tyre pressure, have you checked yours are all correct?

In addition, most filling stations have moved to winter diesel fuel which can also have an effect on economy.
ive never heard of winter diesel

I've now read about it.....but until that I did not even think it was a thing in the UK....just the Northern EU and Canada etc.

Massive difference.....

The freezing point of diesel fuel depends on the quality and composition of the fuel, but it generally gels at temperatures between -9.2°C and -8.1°C

The freezing point of petrol is typically between -40°C and -50C, but it can be as low as -70°C!!

whats the difference then? cos diesel is diesel lower freezing point than petrol
It has nothing to do with the freezing point

Diesel fuel is composed of a complex mix of hydrocarbons and some of those will begin to form gel like compounds in lower temperatures which could block fuel lines etc.

Yep.
Diesel 'waxes' at lower temperatures.

Afaik it's the additives to summer diesel to stop it waxing , gelling, freezing, take your pick ,that makes diesel less calorific 😃. So you get less mileage from it ,because of the spray pattern ..

My icarsoft used to give silly figures for regen info , the decimal point was in the wrong place ,so it looked like 140,000 km in-between regens for example.

I think this must be similar. I’ve done forced regeneration last year and car only does 4k a year

I’ve ordered new boost seals, intake gaskets and dpf cleaner for it

DPF cleaner will do nothing. It's too late. Needs inspection by a specialist for proper diagnosis, but it went too far with too many leaks and probably needs a new PCV valve as well if the engine is still worth saving

I’m not 100% sure, it’s a 2010.

I’d expect more than 40mpg just sat on the motorway for 60miles. Average over tank on brim to brim calculation is 26mpg.

Here's mine as an example from yesterday. Same engine but in a glc and also 4 matic. I was in eco mode also. Pic was taken a bit later after I got home. Steady 65/75 mph the full time. Highest I saw was 40.3 . Partly on cruise control. Just me in the car and 3/4 tank of fuel down to 1/4 .

I average 28 mpg over 4000 miles, usually mixed driving and only ever 10 mile trips to work n back.
