Interesting thread... and a lot of debate as to why the police got involved...

Could there be something else the van driver didn't want exposed? E.g. lack of insurance, road tax, mot, etc?

Slk owner reports it, van driver says "sorry - the van was parked on the driveway at that time, SORN and not on the road. Can't have been me"....
