Holiday family's car is driven 800 miles while 'parked' by airport firm

What device is this, and what app please

It's a GT102A tracker I had hard-wired in my car, I also removed the casing to make it slimmer, so it fits between headlining and obscuration band at the top of the windscreen - almost instant fix on satellites and impossible to tell it's there.

The app is GPS-Trace Orange and is from the same guys as this web service: https://gps-trace.com/

The app is pretty slick, and simple - exactly what you need to know where your car is, and nothing else.

Web interface is free (as is the app), for up to 5 trackers, if I'm not mistaken. Some cool features too - e.g. it emails you when set event occurs - like "Mercedes left Bodyshop" or "Mercedes speed is over 70mph" - very handy.

If you get the same unit, I'd be happy to advise on type of SIM card, server settings, etc, etc :thumb:

Could be the same company that was featured on WatchDog (BBC). This company would take your money, then park your car on the roadside of a local council estate.

Numerous people complained about added mileage, wear and tear that wasn't there when they dropped the car off, damage to the car and one bloke even had his expensive Merc nicked, to which he had to claim off his own insurance because the company would not take liability for the action of a third party.

There are many genuine companies around, but as with all business, there are those after a quick buck and no conscience. Beware of cowboy builders and parkers.

At least the Mercedes was not damaged.

I left my car with the I Love Meet & Greet for three days, the weekend before last, and it was badly scratched. As the car was returned in the poor lighting of the underground road I did not notice it until I got home. From its position and shape it would have been caused by someone getting out of the car, in a tight spot, with something hard, perhaps keys on the belt, causing the scratch. It is deep and the estimate for repair is around £300.

I Love Meet & Greet have declined responsibility with some interesting phrases:
“due to the chain of causation being broken by yourself”
“I can reassure you have that at no point did the damage happen in our care due to where it was parked for the duration of your stay.”

While I do like the convenience, I will have to consider whether the extra expense and chance of damage is worth it in the future, perhaps something like the NCP car park would be a less worrying option!

Most days I walk through the short term car park at Luton Airport where a private meet and greet company operates from under a large golf umbrella. All their drivers, without exception, look like young failed asylum seekers as they look so dodgy and unkempt. God knows or is Allah knows where those cars end up.

The official airport run meet and greet does hardly any business compared to the company under the umbrella that has a constant flow of passengers.

Has it been statistically proven that failed assylum seekers with certain religious beliefs are any worse as drivers than the general UK population..............?

I've used Gatwick official valet parking four or five times now - no problems at all with mileage never exceeding 10m per stay thus far. I am also the kind of person that takes a photo of the dash for mileage, and videos hire cars 'in and out' to ensure no rogue charges, so a bit OCD on that score..
