How do I dry out my car interior?

Driving the car with the AC on will help remove some moisture.

I cleaned out the awkward to get to drain below the wiper assembly and also the drain on the inner O/S wing. I hope I have cured the problem once and for all. Cr*p design IMHO.

Can you please give detailed instructions about where to find these drain points? My drive is under a couple of big oaks and leaves are always falling on the cars. I do my best to keep the leaves out of the vents and the nooks and crannies under the bonnet but it is difficult.

On my Honda (which I have had 4 years) I recently noticed a small plant growing from a seed which must have got trapped near the base of the windscreen behind the plastic trim. Closer inspection revealed a build up of composted leaves. :(

I'll try and take some pictures tomorrow when I make absolutely sure I have got all of the rubbish out of the one below the wiper assy. I used a strip of rigid wire to poke the drain the other day but could probably get more gunk out with a steel ruler or such like.

It was a combination of soil and grit that I extracted from the drain below the wiper.

I'm sure the cleaning out of this drain was added to the B service schedule some time ago - my car has had around 10 B services at MB dealerships.

With these drains, once you have got a rod through them the best way to clean them out, ironically, is to sluice them through with water.

Welland99 - you had to mention A/C!!!!!

That's good news. After poking around in the drain I got my hose out on the one below the wiper assy. I was going to get the pressure washer on the job but all seems okay at the moment.

That would be helpful, thanks.

Yep remove the carpets/foam - had a leaking footwell in a cavalier due a poorly fitted alarm :o. That foam holds water nobody's business.

I cleaned my 3 drains out last year and i just used the hose and blew them out the amount of crap and composted dirt was amazing.
Have also done wifes 203 one recently also blocked up pretty bad.

Yep, I'm trying to organise a "Group Dismantle/Assemble" of my dashboard to access the evaporator.

£300 for the part and (if I was stupid enough) £2000 for the labour at MB dealership. Had a price of £1000 including part and labour from a good local indy which I may go for.

Re the damp interior, some tool hire outfits have de-humidifiers for hire.
