How do I get a spanner to undo this injector ? Plastic cap in way on 2010 Mercedes eclass 3.0

Can't get a spanner on to undo this injector because plastic cap is in the way , please help

Undo it the other end of the pipe and remove the pipe with the injector. You will have to undo the other end anyway as the pipe wont bend far enough to get the injector out. You will be able to get a spanner onto it when its out without the head in the way.

Thanks, I already partially undid the other end but was still struggling. I tried an 18 and was able to undo it but I don't think I'll be able to tighten it up proper because it kept slipping and almost rounding the nut .
When I get injector out should I drop something down the hole to prevent debris and metal shavings getting into the cylinder because I'll be using a seat cutting tool , thanks

Use plenty of spay oil on the cutting tool, and remove and clean every turn or 2, the shavings will stick to it, putting something in the a good idea as long as your confident you can retrieve it, and that it won’t get in the way of the cutter

You’re not going to believe this, but an injector pipe socket, does what it says.

I have all sorts of 'home made' spanners and other tools like the one in post #8 . Mainly from decades of working on all sorts of machinery .

Sometimes you make something like this , use it once ....but you will never throw it away
