Hi,
Has anyone tried to install a dashmount phone holder into a CLK220(W209)

THIS is the Link to their website, although it shows a W208 the instructions are the same!

Instructions read:
1. Open the ashtray.
2. Unclip the gear shift gaiter from the front section: pull up and slide back.
3. Remove the ashtray insert by unclipping the two retaining tabs at the front.
4. Remove the two Torx 20 screws at the base of the console and lever the trim forwards.
5. Locate the bracket with the screw and guide pin to the left of the heater matrix.
6. Refit the fascia, screws, ashtray and gaiter trim.

I failed at Item 2 :(

My CLK is an automatic and i cannot see how to unclip the shift gaiter, any advice would be much appreciated before i break something which costs me alot of money!

Waratah,

The gear shift surround is unclippable remarkably easily :)

All you do, is to grasp the surround at the front where the gaiter joins the trim and gently... draw it upwards and the latches release.

Simples!

Thanks,

OK, I.ve removed the 2 Torx screws at the base of the heater controls and applied some considerable force to leaver the trim forward, however nothing is budging, anything else i should know about!!!

Sweet Jebus!

No extreme force should be necessary :D

I am presuming you have eased out the "ashtray" cubby.

And then removed the two torx at the base of your air/climate control fascia.

If you have removed the correct screws (and I have no reason to think you haven't), then the climate fascia should be able to be "eased" out carefully.

As an example, and lawd knows why I didn't point you here in the first place...

Mercedes IPOD Retrofit

About half-way down are some images of the console...

Good Luck!

Many Thanks to the Baron :thumb:

I had removed the 2 Torx screws right at the back and not the ones on the angle.

All sorted and bracket fitted. :D
