how do i repair a stopped clock??

The familly faithful since new '83 230TE has a problem with it's clock. Its stopped - i know the car is near immaculate and time has stood still for it - but this is taking things too far!

Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be and how to fix it? I don't want to have to take the dash apart...
