How frequently to you need to top up Oil?

Had the car nearly 8 months from new and 9000 miles in ... not had to put in a drop of oil yet. Is this normal?

I've had mine 7yrs and 113k miles and never had to top up the oil between services!

ML 350 1 year old no to ups. BMW 335 ever 3-4months. C220 no idea

My chug-a-lug 124 Diesels. One on just over 200K and the other on 235K. No oil used between services.

My E46 328i BMW has never used a drop between services in 8 yrs, and I often drive 'enthusiastically'. The C43, who knows?!! Going for its first service with me as the owner on Tuesday.

Mine has done 267K miles. I did an oil change last weekend. It had covered 19000 miles since the previous oil change. It was not topped up between changes.

Funny aren't they? Mine have all been the same. I did 140,000 miles in my 250TD and never topped that up between services either

Rotary engines are designed to use oil. Normal.

I had a BMW 320 coupe in 2002, and the garage told me 1 litre every 500 miles was normal!!! Seriously! And it really did get through it.

A friend had the 330i coupe. We both drove down to the South of France a couple of years back. She put 1 litre in every 500 miles, mine oil level never moved, weird. She had taken in back to BMW who said it was normal use.

I put a litre in my wife's 330i every 1000 miles. They do use oil. I have a 380 bhp Mark 5 Golf gti which does not use a drop and neither does the 320 cdi or the v6 Petrol 320 with 180k on it.

Me too. My C250td uses no oil at all between services. With 250k on the clock. Amazing engine.

Mine has not needed any extra oil in between services as yet after 13 months.

Wifes w245 uses about 2.5l between the 20k miles it goes between services - I make that somewhere near to 1/3 of the oil gets burned. It's not smokey and there isn't any marking around the exhaust pipe exit at all.....according to the local dealer that's quite low (gulp!).

Comparatively - 130bhp 1.9TDi Audi A4 from 2004 - 18k miles between services - oil usage - about 100ml (I'm fanatical about keeping it on full and yes I do measure that ;o)

How different eh?

when i first got my E55 it used 1ltr every 6000 miles, since the oil cooler gave up and dumped all of it and was replaced it hasnt needed any extra between services since.
