Howmanyleft.co.uk tells me that there are only 140 E500 Elegance cars in the UK - but doesn't tell me the saloon / estate split.

I would guess that 1 in 7 might be an estate. Which would make it only 20 estates in the UK. Can this really be true?

Anyone know how I could find out?

EDIT- misread post.

They are rare.

I guess part of the reason is that they fall in between the torquey and more economical V6 diesels and the more powerful AMG's.

Also, if you're searching by derivative (Elegance) that will reduce the count further.

There are certainly Avantgarde versions and later Sports too.

I loved my E500 estate with airmatic, it was the closest thing possible to an S class estate. As Developer says though, they are pretty niche.

Elegances: 134 / Avantgardes 415 / Sports 240

So, for what it's worth, the title tells the breakdown of models.

I would guess that means only 20 Elegance Estates and maybe 50 Avantgarde estates in the UK.

But does anyone know if there are any published numbers for Estates anywhere?

This is my source. It comes from the Government's record of number of cars taxed:
