How much is a..... Does this fit....... - Ask Your Questions In Here

Hello Sir!

Can you please quote me happy for 2 lemforder ball joints. PN 617220555
That part # is specific to ECP/Carparts4less, googling it gets you things like Mercedes S-Class W220, E-Class 211 & CLS C219 Lemforder Front Lower Ball Joint | eBay which is 1 penny cheaper than on CP4L while ECP are 90pence more in the current "sale". RRP according to ECP alias on the bay is £20.99 while on the ECP site the RRP is £21.90
Look up the MB part# or the Lemforder part # from the ebay listing and you get results like
Support-/Steering Link (LEMFÖRDER , 21667 02): MERCEDES-BENZ Parts - Bestpartstore.co.uk (German company with a UK contact number) which claims the RRP is £15. While they sell the same ball joint for £10.98 that doesn't include postage (£8 IIRC) which is obviously a deal breaker if you only want one ball joint...
http://www.skscarparts.co.uk/steering-axle-arms-links-and-joints-21667-02-lemforder.html¤cy=GBP&language=en?***id=CMz7q5q-o8gCFYaD2wodY78Avw Again they add shipping seperately rather than offering free postage including it in the price of every item even if you collect it in person...
Ball Joint LEMFÖRDER 21667 02 - Wheel and axle suspension Different list price again, need to spend £39 to get shipping included but then the same ball joint is £12.74 delivered
Hi, my list is growing. Need front discs and pads prices please
Look up your car using the first 6 digits of the VIN on a site like Mercedes webcatalog and you'll get the MB part # along with brand specific numbers for the usual suspects. Both SKSautoparts and AutoDoc GmbH let you search using either MB part numbers or specific brand numbers instead of giving everything their own inhouse code. You'll then typically find a wider choice of brands from (at least) the SKS and AutoDoc and be able to look the MB price from places like JOINT - E Class 1985 - 1994 E250D - Mercedes-Benz Parts, Inchcape provided you put the part number in without spaces and prefixed with the letter a for example a2113230068 for the balljoint. Obviously not this time but sometimes they're competitive and occasionally cheaper

Crikey! So much info! Thanks!
BTW I found GSF very cheap at moment with code OCT35 giving 35% off!

Is that not the same marketing game that ecp are playing? 35% off of an artificially high price isn't necessarily even the going rate let alone cheap...

GSF Ball Joint choice of two brands, the cheap tat one is more expensive than Lemforder from various sources and the TRW example at £28.48 is more expensive than a genuine part (Lemforder or TRW probably?) from MB!! Granted their "discount" fixes that until you look up the price for a TRW JBJ769 elsewhere and find it's £11.84 with no discount codes needed from mister-auto Ball Joint TRW JBJ769 - Wheel and axle suspension or £9.98 from AutoDoc. Both of them claim the list price is lower than the discounted GSF price & 40-50% lower than their regular price

And all the local factors who have been around for years, and don't inflate their prices to cover pretend discounts go under...
Yep. Round my way the last of the small/independant local factors shut their doors for good at least 5 years ago... used to be one branch of SC motorfactors and two small independants with a single ECP and GSF further afield. Then the ECP branches started breeding (as did halfords) and the smaller guys gave up leaving 3 each of ECP and halfords within spitting distance now along with SCs who (thankfully) always seem busy whenever i pop in there for something

Hi there

My Ml320CDI needs front pads, the ones I want are

Hi, I have added the service items I require into the basket but the promo code says it isn't valid anymore? Am I doing something wrong?

They're having and *upto* 50% off sale at the moment, so you get the golden opportunity to save 1% (upto after all).

While the 1% off super sale is on forum "discounts" won't work.

Use the same part numbers here:

Car Parts Online, Spare Parts, Motor Spares from CarParts4Less.co.uk

Usually works out less than using the pretend discounts anyway.

Yeah I remember the "local motor factors" ------- Have you got an account with us pal---- no------- we ONLY deal with trade customers----- no --we aren't interested in a cash sale--- no we don't have it stock--- have to order it in see--- could take a couple of weeks ------- with attitudes like that I would suggest they were the architects of their own demise. :dk:

info e124

My car is a w124 260e saloon . Do you have a good quality wing for it ..? Those i have seen are thin on the lip around wheel arch. Likeless than 1/2 inch Not enough room to screw the mud flap back on.

Back in the day factors were just that, where the trade got their parts from, now everyone expects to get trade prices, everyone wants pretend discounts, but you have wanted, most of the real factors have closed and you get to pay more than main dealer prices for Chinese rubbish.

One of the reasons ECP [Eurocarparts] and GSF[ German Swedish French] got a toehold in the market was to supply quality OEM parts for continental cars at a fraction of the prices main dealers were charging. Most established motor factors refused to touch " foreign stuff" ------ content to supply the mainstream Ford,Vauxhall,Chrysler,British Leyland pattern parts. Perhaps they were phased by the language/ import problems or more likely just complacent. Whatever the reason they failed to move with a change in the market towards continental manufacturers and went out of business. ECP and GSF have also changed markedly from their origins [ not necessarily for the better] but their success is predicated on appearing at least on the surface to give the customer what they want rather than the "take it or leave it attitude " of the style old motor factors. :dk:

So ECP ignored this thread, I went to my local ECP and my local MB (both Colchester and virtually next door to each other). As it happened MB were having some sort of promotion on brake parts, at least they were once I told them I'd asked ECP to price it up. I bought a set of front pads/discs/sensor for £12 less than ECP, now fitted and working...

FWIW the pads are Jurid, I'm not sure about the discs

Cheers Mike

It's also worth pointing out (in case it's not obvious) that different MB dealers charge different prices for parts, with some also using alternative routes to market to provide even better deals.

An example being the front (composite) discs and pads I needed for my C63 PP. Price to supply and fit was over £2k from all the MB dealers and independents I asked.
I then found Southend MB (Jardine group) selling the complete kit via their eBay store for £999 including delivery. I emailed them about a similar kit for the rear brakes and their parts manager, Drew, was very helpful at putting together a BOM and deal for me.

The parts are all genuine MB branded and are lovely - well they should be given the price(!)

It pays to shop around.
