Car
Clk230
Hi, I'm new to this forum and found this site on my quest to find out more information on the car I've just bought. The car was owned by my brother for six years and I've just got it from him.

I've been trying to find more information about the colour. I know it was a special order colour and I've found out from this site there is a few silk's in it but I can't find anything about the clk's. On my search I found one convertible for sale and I think one in Russia.

My car has the full Amg kit fitted to it, it's a 2000 model 230 kompressor

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Electric green was not offered on the W209 (or at least not by that name), so it would have to be a special order as you suspect. - I don't know about the W208

The options for the (facelift) W209 were:
Black, Fire Opal (red) and Calcite White in non-metallic.
Green Black, Obsidian Black (mine), Iolite Blue, Tansanite Blue, Thulite Red, Cubanite Silver, Perlite Grey, Tellurium Silver, and Iridium Silver in metallic.

The soft top was available in Black, Blue or Grey.

Looking at that colour; is there any chance it's an after-market job? - I guess if it's a full shell including the engine bay, that's unlikely.

thanks for your help so far that vin search was very helpful. The chances of seeing another in this colour will be rather slim then. i guess on the spec list the 024 special series dtm edition relates to the colour

I've seen a couple of C class coupes in that colour , but never a CLK

Google just brings it up on slk's, C class coupes and the one convertible clk

Mercedes will paint any current model a Designo colour if you're willing to pay and wait (it adds circa 3 months to build time).

It can often be dependent on how willing your local dealer is to help you with this process.

In the UK, MB are not very forthcoming with Designo options, it's not exactly an easy process to go through, unlike on the continent where they have Boutiques in some of the main dealers with all sorts of swatches and facilities to help you tailor make your car.

It's just not a business model that MB promote in the UK, which is a shame as there are some genuinely nice option available including bespoke interiors.

That is the cab I found it's also advertised on cars and classics. I emailed to see if it was sold and they didn't get back to me. I was breaking the car for parts till I saw that advert. I'm now going to fix the body work. Underneath is solid, the interior is excellent and I've got a massive pile of history for it. I think they are slightly optimistic with the price though.

It was my brothers first car so I'm tempted to keep it as I know how much I miss my first car. It's comfy as well I've got a z4 coupe and the merc is so much more comfortable. Everything works perfectly he was ocd about keeping everything mechanically sound it's just a shame he wasn't as ocd about the bodywork. I can sort that though.

Definitely a Marmite Colour

I can't say I really like but it's definitely a colour of the era. There was loads of yellow and green cars around the year 2000. It's like the recent craze of everyone having a white car. Both my other cars are black with red leather that's more my style.

I'm just thinking it would be a shame to break it if it is such a rare colour.

It's also got the optional AMG bodykit fitted. I think a nice set of original 18" AMG alloys from that era would finish it off nicely :thumb:

According to the vin search it should have 16's on it so I might sell on the ones that are on it and find some to go back on. I want to ditch the window tints too. I had it for a week a while back and it drives really well. It's had bushes replaced, the steering damper replaced and loads of other bits. Mechanically it's wanted for nothing over the past six years.

I wanted a clk a good few years back so I've finally got one. I've had Audi, BMW this is my first merc I've got to say I do like them.

I appreciate all the help it seems like a really good forum

W17! Where (generally) do you live? I've been told I may have the only Designo Electric Green SLK in the UK. We should attend a get together some time. Their eyes! Their eyes! We would blind the rest of them!

(See picture left)

I'm in Bolton, the cars sorned at the minute while I do bits on it. If I do put it on the road I'll bring it along to some meets. I'm sure I can can turn it into a very nice car. Your car looks great!
