How Would You Clean This?

There are NO swirls on this car - none - except maybe on the A pillars!

I kind of like it in a strange kind of way, almost two tone in nature.....

Hose it down to wash off as much as possible off, then if you do not have a foam gun mix up strong car wash solution, whizz it round a bit in a bucket to foam up and use a plasitc jug or similar to chuck it over car.

Leave for a bit then rinse off with lots of water.

That will lift off worst of the grot and grit but you may need to repeat the process before you can start washing it.

Be careful though, because that is only the start of the long and slippery slope into Clay Bar fetishism.

I've been there, well not with the claybar but the orbital mops, yes two, one to apply and another to remove. Had the halogen lights out and the felt marker to mark the very last of scratches so I could see them with he mop. I got every single one out, but they do come back over the years.

I think I will soak it, hit it with the garden hose with attachment set to semi jet to get the worst off, soap it as you suggest, then with the hose running between my hand and the paint gently rub it down by hand - that way you can feel the grit before it becomes a problem.

Any advance on that would be most welcome Gents, and yes it will get an oil change now!!

Snowfoam, then jet wash it off will look 100% better straight off.

Then a two bucket wash

leather down / dry off

polish / seal

Take lots of pictures and post results :)

I once had a white Volvo which soon got filthy even though it was washed at least weekly.
Once when visiting a customer he commented that he liked the colour of my car...brown...:D

No not Brillo...too much soap.

I remember visiting the excellent (sadly gone) Males Bodyshop near Manchester Airport to find they were polishing a dark blue Passat estate that wifey had washed with Vim.

Right, update time. I drove the car today through this,

http://clearnet.co.nz/weather/satellite-images.html#isobaric

under there is New Zealand, somewhere.

Very impressed with the result, the dirt has almost all gone without even washing, it has helped that we have reasonably serious surface flooding; even the wheel houses are clean!!

As soon as it stops raining, step two will commence!

Coming along nicely...........

Could you recover your old one. Covers used to be available- used to be the outer side bolster that always went- due the driver getting in and out. or has the seat collapsed?

Thanks Grober, I really need a whole new seat, it was heavily internally modified by an upholsterer and an electric lumbar support was also put in it. The motors and frame are well past their best too, so really I am after a whole seat with the fabric/plastic trim to transmission tunnel piece as well. I had thought a passenger's seat from a LHD car would be best as they tend to be used less, I am looking for one that has not yet started to sag in the bum, or at very least one that has but is in top condition, otherwise I can replace the spring box if I really have to.

Went for a drive for the first time in well over a month today, I'd forgotten how nice these cars are to drive. I've been too busy polishing it after the run across the Island & it was time to blow all the dust off.

Now, shall I get it Gtechniq C1'ed, how much would you expect to pay for this in the UK.......??
