HRH crash

Peripheral vision decreases badly with age, be aware of it as you become older, I lost a friend’s Mother just like this, his Father was driving, pulling out of a driveway after buying friut from a road stall, still to this day saw nothing - devastating.

I understand that Landrover were seen unloading another Freelander at Sandrigham Castle this morning.

Freelander for the Freeloaders

^^^ And the victims of his carelessness, will they get a new car too?

Not if their car is more than one year old. Why do you ask?

If their car was insured then they will probably get what they are entitled to. Does it matter who was in the other car?

Salt and vinegar anyone?

One report I read mentioned that his car was 'armoured' I can see no evidence of that in the photos, one earlier photo of him in (presumably) the same car seems to show it might have thick side windows but I don't pay much attention to Freelanders so it could just be the norm.

And if it was an armoured vehicle it would probably have locked itself on impact and not had a working sunroof.

Well the Dukes accident has certainly thrown the spotlight on older drivers,we all know that at 70 you get the form from the DVLA asking you if you are fit to drive,I suppose that cannot continue for much longer, without doubt getting older means that you can get illnesses that can effect your driving, and of course you physically you may have some impairment,of course I think that there should be a small driving test, maybe when a driver gets to 75 and then every 5 years after that along with a medical, the driving test does not have be longer that 20 mins, and around familiar roads, any examiner worth his salt will know after 10 mins if the older driver is still able to drive safely on the road,I look forward to getting the DVLA form next year, 130 miles today on fast A roads and the M25 once again proved I still have the ability to drive well, and I am willing to put it to the test.

Still waiting for the headline from The Sun/Daily Wail of -

Aren’t all OAP’s benefits claimants?

^What age are you?

Well I will be 70 in April, sorry forgot we are in 2019,those little purple pills that keep me awake seem not to be working, and I have given up wearing my glasses they give me a headache, there were far too many drivers on the wrong side of the road today, the police should crack down on them, all those headlights, for a few moments I thought it was xmas, did we have xmas already,we must have I have new socks, strange how they sell different colour socks I do not seem to get a matching pair, need a a sleep now.

Here's a queer one.

I heard on the radio today that the local authority have started looking at a reduction in the speed limit following this event.

Under normal circumstances would one accident with no significant injury have caused such a rapid reaction?

I also heard that, but have also heard that on that particular stretch of the road were several accidents in recent months.

On the BBC 6pm news they reported -
"Norfolk County Council was already due to discuss safety issues on the road - described as a "rat run" by one local - before the crash took place.
On Friday, it approved plans for new safety measures on that section of the A149. The speed limit will be lowered from 60mph to 50mph and an average speed monitoring system will be implemented."

From another source -
"The stretch of road in question is known to the local council as it has seen 40 "personal injury accidents" – which include five that were fatal and ten serious. These accidents took place across six years to May 2018, on the road that Prince Philip crashed. "
