HRH crash

On the BBC 6pm news they reported -
"Norfolk County Council was already due to discuss safety issues on the road - described as a "rat run" by one local - before the crash took place.
On Friday, it approved plans for new safety measures on that section of the A149. The speed limit will be lowered from 60mph to 50mph and an average speed monitoring system will be implemented."

From another source -
"The stretch of road in question is known to the local council as it has seen 40 "personal injury accidents" – which include five that were fatal and ten serious. These accidents took place across six years to May 2018, on the road that Prince Philip crashed. "
Prince Philip car crash: Was CRASH road known problem area? Latest on Prince's smash

And it only takes one high profile accident to provoke some action.

I bet the head of the local authority shat himself when he heard the big news.

What does the local mean by describing the A149 as a "rat run". It's nothing of the sort, a rat run is a back street short cut to avoid traffic. The A149 is a dead flat A road from one place to another and from what I remember has excellent visibility.

I understand that Landrover were seen unloading another Freelander at Sandrigham Castle this morning.

Freelander for the Freeloaders

Either the insurers or the royal family will have paid for it. Certainly you or I would not receive such prompt service, but there's a reason for that; it's called a high profile. Would you make the same sort of mean-spirited comment if some pig-thick footballer, or "celebrity" famous mainly for being famous, received similarly prompt service?

That's the way the world is; publicity gets things done which otherwise would not be done.

Good on her, if she doesn't want to protect herself in her own land then why should we force her? She's not hurting anybody else.

You seem to have missed the point.

It is unusual for the authority to take action the day after one incident.

I get that you are protective about the royal family and I've not been 'mean spirited' in the slightest.

BTW, did you get up to speed about the baby?

Many news channels yesterday also mentioned that according to reseatch statistically younger drivers (17 - 25 year olds ) have more accidents than older drivers (over 70s).

I see and respect your point. I consider this country to be my land as well but law forbids me to not wear a seatbelt.

It is unusual but it happened near where I live just a few months ago. Local residents on a steep road had been complaining of leaf mulch on the road not being cleared by the local council for a long time, they said it was causing cars to slip and skid.
This all fell on deaf ears for a long time.
Two days after a pedestrian was run down and killed on this very same road the council sent the cleaners in. It was not suggested that the leaves contributed to this death (still under investigation), but WHAT a coincidence !!

Freelander for the Freeloaders

It's unlikely to have come from Land Rover. They haven't made a Freelander 2 since the end of 2014. In the photo I saw it appears to have a personal plate and most likely has been moved to Sandringham from another royal estate.

Never suggested it was New
