I’ve been offered a new C63AMG, thoughts please

Have you driven the facelift C63 already? Try to get a test drive and see if the facelift car is so much better than the current one to justify changing for a lower spec vehicle.

Just a thought. Is there an option to buy at the end of your aggreement? If so, then the £50 may be a theoretical benefit only. My thinking, and please forgive the crude maths:

When you took out the current agreement times were hard and future value at the end of the agreement was forecast to be £Xk. If things pick up and the actual value at the end of the agreement is more than £Xk then you benefit.

With the passage of time, the future looks less bleak and the forecast value at the end of the agreement is forecast to be £Yk, which is £2k more on a 36 month agreement, leaving a smaller amount to finance. Bingo, £50 cheaper.

In the scenario I describe, nothing has changed except the forecast value at the end of the agreement.

Hi people, well I took the plunge today and ordered the new C63 AMG, the dealer gave me a bit more of an incentive for the deal, the car will be registered for the 1st of September, he has just emailed over the OASIS vehicle enquiry form and it shows that the car left Germany on the 8th of August and will arrive in the UK on Wednesday 17th, so can’t wait, I feel like a kid in a sweet shop, however this is all down to subject to finance!!! Once I receive the car I will give a write up on how it performs etc.

Good for you.

I just can't get my head around spending £1000 a month on a car, my mortgage is £215 a month!

Not a critisism...just a perspective:D

Hi Red c220, it’s either a new C63 for me or give the money to my royal highness ex-wife and after thinking about this for a split mille second I chose the C63.

You've killed two birds with one stone then.

Fantastic.:D

 I wish my mortgage was anything like as low as £215 a month

Congratulations, that's fantastic - look forward to the new car!

I have freinds living in £600K houses with £450K mortgages and they can't go on holiday, can't eat out, can't do anything. It's just not how I want to live my life.

All these big mortgages seemed like a terribly good idea with rampant house price inflation but it's a different prospect now.

Have to smile. Just been reading the other thread "Why do we buy AMG?"

Loveday's thread poses the awful dilemma - Why buy a new AMG when I already have one??!!

As previous posters have pointed out, the finance figures are mindboggling for most of us, and economically make no sense at all (IMHO).

Perhaps I'm missing something, but this surely is an all time classic case of heart massively overwhelming the head. Having said that, it's entirely the OP's business - so enjoy!

I think i'd ask them to sharpen their pencil a tad, is the car they have coming in one they have to pay for immediately? Do you think so they need a deal as putting on stock finance is not an option? As others have said the £1k for a £50 monthly reduction is not a win-win also whatever extras you spec'ed do you really need them?

If it were my choice, I'd take it. I seldom own a car, for me it's about the monthly payment, and for me I wouldn't miss the mechanically locking diff, not for a daily driver.

New gearbox, new warranty, new car, same money going out per month, better fuel economy.

I would swap just for the new interior.

Having had a W204 for a week I soon got bored with the interior and prefer my W203's. But the facelifted W204 is much nicer than both so I can see what you mean

Not sure of any options on this car but here is a 125 Edition C63 for about half of lease rate of the one you are looking at:devil:

Mercedes Benz - Contract hire and leasing deals - Freedom vehicle contracts

OK, it's about £580 + vat for 24 months if you include the up front deposit in the calcs, but still seems a big saving.....if saving is what you are after!

Thanks for all the comments guys.

After thinking about the deal that was offered to me I have decided to buy the car, I have paid the deposit got the finance in place ready and now just counting down the days so that I can collect the new C63 from the dealership on the 1st September.

I will be viewing the car at the dealership once they receive it which should be any day now, so can someone let me know how I attach pictures to this thread as I will post some once I view it.
