Idiot....

Can't understand why people get so heated about these discussions and make it personal though!

They get heated because contributors feel protected by anonymity and sometimes say things that we would never say to someone's face - a bit like sitting in a car!

You'll find some of the contributions quite illuminating, and wonder, if you haven't before (though I'm sure you have), why on earth there aren't more accidents on our roads.

Because (some) people default to anger; being unable to accept they could be wrong, they cannot accept criticism or entertain a point of view differing from their own and become vengeful and vindictive as a result?

Most people accept their mistakes immediately whilst some people defend their mistakes to the bitter end.

That incident reminds me of some years ago when I was joining the M6 southbound from the M54 and the traffic was clogging up. As I tootled along the slip roads a car shot across the bows of the car in front, on the right hand slip road lane, having left the motorway and was looking to gain some car lengths by slipping up the left hand lane. I then had the same experience with another car pretty much at right angles to the lane, forcing me to emergency brake and I made the mistake of gesticulating suggesting that the driver's poor decision making might have been due to his over-enthusiasm for self-abuse!

This was a mistake as the guy was an ****nal supporter on the way back from a match (unlikely ever to be happy!) and then decided it was more important to deal with me, than save his 30 seconds in the queue. A couple of minutes jockeying with me tailgating a lorry and looking for an escape route in near stationary traffic with matey driving on the hard shoulder swerving around then he managed to stop me. He got out, tried to open my door which was locked, seemed to think I was unreasonable for not unlocking it.

What really amused me was that he shouted through the window "What's your problem?"

Would have made a great YouTube video, and now I keep my thoughts as to other driver's personal habits to myself.

It's always good to remember that some cars are driven by the criminally minded, who would just as readily run you off the road as shove a glass in your face in a pub.

I'm sure other members on here use dashcams so how about a dashcam sticky?

Show your clips?!

This incident also illustrates another bad, but very common, driving habit, that of signalling simultaneously with the commencement of the manoeuvre, rendering the signal utterly useless. I would venture to say that most drivers do this when lane changing. Another favourite is, when turning, braking first then signalling. If there had been a collision here (looks like M62 junction 27 west-bound entry) then Cinek's case may have been compromised by the other (lady?) driver saying she signalled, and maybe witnesses, in their ignorance, agreeing with that.

The signal is supposed to be a signal of intention, not of what the driver has already started to do.

It was M4 on-slip heading M25 clock wise (junction 15).
Interesting thing was, that despite nearly causing a major incident, the other driver kept coming into my lane even after I ended up on hatched area.

Camera footage doesnt reflect how close this one really was, and how lucky I was the barrier ended at the precise moment he pulled across.

I notice the other driver wasn't exactly keen to pull fully back in to his/her lane, either. As you say, lucky the barrier ends where it does. That single-lane right-hander just before the two lanes join is a nasty one, too; off-camber, tightening, and slightly downhill. ISTR four passengers died when a coach driver misjudged it, and the coach overturned, a few years back.

I've been tempted to fit a dash camera myself, but it might be incriminating evidence if I was the one driving like a D**k....

Well you know what the answer to that is? ;)
