Thank goodness this does not apply to Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Unbelievable that you can buy this equipment on Ebay.

why would you want one?

Happy New Year John! ;) At a buy it now price of £2020-00 don't think there will be many takers? I imagine that to set up a key for an existing vehicle you would need to copy one of the original keys also? If it's possible then organized crime will have them already and they will have nicked them in the first place! Which brings me to wonder just how much the USA's "Homeland Security" agency monitors E-bay transactions originating in the US??

Hi Graeme,
Totally agree that you possibly need the original key but that will not usually be a problem? Hire car etc

I just cannot see a legitimate reason for someone to want to buy one of these, plus it is not just a one off!

I accept we can all come up with the theoretical 'what if' type scenario, but £2000 will buy an awful lot of spare keys or is the a ready market for spare keys for these specialist vehicles?

The gadget is not all encompassing.

Regards
John the non buyer

I have seen an advert on Ebay or somewhere where on the internet the seller claims to program key fobs for VW/Mercedes...!
