Presumably some are. I do know of an elderly person (who is not stupid, but is in his 80's, had a TLA a few years ago so is perhaps not quite as sharp as he was) that got scammed whilst online. Gave some scrote permission to Remote Desktop his laptop, whereupon they installed dodgy software.Are people really that stupid?
Fortunately he realised what was happening shut the laptop down and asked for help. A family member in the banking system stepped up and put a stop on his accounts before any money was taken. The laptop was taken to a local specialist and was 'cleansed'. But could have been a different outcome.
The people behind these scams must be doing it for a reason. I read an article a while back that said, some of the bad grammar and spelling mistakes are used deliberately to filter out the more discerning 'victims'.

Happened to my MIL with an online catalogue company illegally sharing payment details with other companies. We had to get the ICO involved eventually. Thankfully her bank were fantastic at sorting it all out; luckily Mrs S has full power of attorney, but it was still a complete pain getting cards cancelled etc..Sorry to hear that, these gobshites really are the scum of the earth.

Many thousands it would appear, or the scammers would not bother and just move onto other sorts of crime.....there is even a TV series about scamming at the moment. To be honest most on there that get scammed don't appear to be quite the sharpest tool in the box but even so.Are people really that stupid?
That reminds me....I bought a book online called "How To Avoid Being Scammed".....been 5 months now and I've still not got it!
