Your car is equipped with COMAND Online NTG4.5.

As of mid-2013, TomTom Live traffic subscription was added, and if your car has that then you'll have option 'B54 MBCONNECT - REAL-TIME TRAFFIC DATA' on your datacard. Otherwise the Navigation will use the free TMC traffic service, which is a bit basic and only covers motorways and main roads.

The COMAND unit can also connect to the Internet via Bluetooth tethering to your mobile phone, but support for iPhone was only added in mid-2013 so earlier units can only connect to the Internet via Android or Nokia phones.

You can choose to upgrade the firmware on COMAND, but it requires STAR so it's a job for the dealer or specialist. You can update the maps though, the current version is V19.0, released in November 2019.

That's great info as I did try to connect through the the I pone and got an unsupported message which at the time I thought was a bit odd but that clears that up.

You should still be able to connect an iPhone to the car over Bluetooth for voice calls, and also separately for music streaming from the phone to the car.

And, you can consider fitting an aftermarket Apple CarPlay kit, which will give you Apple Maps or Waze navigation with real-time traffic, and speed cameras warning.....

BTW, does the car have reverse camera? If not, then this can be retrofitted as well.

Yeah the car has the reverse camera, again I thought this night have had some guide lines so a bit disappointed it has not.

I am a bit behind with tech so if i was to get the apple car play kit would this connect with the cars screen or is it a stand alone thing.
