My 06 plate C220 CDI needs a B service in the next 500 miles (which is a week with my current commute).
Previously I've always had the servicing done at the dealerships in B'ham (Central & Erdington). I knew a B service is pricey and they are quoting £329. (this is actually cheaper than it was 2 years ago). That's just about bearable but due to the age/mileage (4yrs / 80k) it needs replacement fuel & air filters and a brake fluid change. This brings the quote up to £579 + what other "faults" they find once it's in the workshop.
This feels like a lot of money for not much work. I called Howard Williams in Moseley and they quoted £275 for the service including the above "extras".
I've used them before for a minor fix on another car and they also come recommended.
I'm a bit anxious about going outside the dealership for servicing as I haven't before (at least with this car). Am I worrying unduly? I could really do with the £300 saving as all the car bills have landed at the same time and the credit card is taking a battering!
